It's not a real game Tets. It's just an elaborate scam the FAI are getting paid to pretend about by Trump/Russia so Mexican fans show up at Met Life Stadium and are put in a paddy wagon and deported.
Friendly against Mexico confirmed today: http://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/repub...mexico-in-june
Only three days before the friendly against Uruguay on the 4th, and Austria are due in Dublin on the 11th for the qualifier.
Think it's badly timed, two flights across the Atlantic are not great preparation for a home qualifier

I agree. It'll be terrible preparation. I suspect the primary motivation behind the organisation of this fixture must be commercial.
Tix on sale March 6th. Should I have the honor (or Honour in Canada) of repping Foot.ie there? What would I wear?
Hopefully we send mainly a development/B team. Really questionable to be sure.
Guys any fans travelling from Nashville? don't wana travel alone sniff
Hopefully you're right jbyrne and you might well be. To be fair, a flight to the American east coast isn't the most strenuous of journeys either. It just seems like a bit of an overload though especially with the Uruguay friendly pretty much straight after they arrive back. Hopefully it helps to keep the players sharp though, as O'Neill suggests, and is a good team bonding exercise! I'm starting to see why it might be a good idea, hopefully they know what they're doing. Old Roy would surely let them know if he thought it was a daft move.
was discussed on off the ball the other night, think it was Kilbane who made the point that in the build up to the home qualifier against Scotland, the squad had been together in Dublin for a while at that point, and that at least taking in a trip to the US will break the monotony of it all. I met Jamie Heaslip a few years ago and he said the same thing about the six nations, that the worst part is being stuck in the same hotel with the same people for weeks.
Panic over so.
So, if my world clock calculations are correct, this game will actually be played at 1am on the 2nd June Irish time?
Supposedly Roy has his heart set on seeing Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard across the river.
Tongue in cheek - but at the same time I think as assistant manager and a former player he'd be entitled to his tuppence worth if he felt the trip could be counter productive. Obviously he wouldn't make the final call on it though.
