    Some observations from my viewing.

Lots of toilet rolls on the pitch ( probably the " grease proof " versions )

Steve Heighway doing almost Rory Delap throw-ins.

Decent amount of fans on top of the roof of the stand.

A bit of bite in the game.

It would be nice to have a Giles and Brady now or even one of them.

I know that QPR had a good team back in those days but perhaps Don Givens was a bit unlucky not to get a chance with one of the bigger clubs !

    Johnny Giles is quite small.

Some great names from the past there ~ Irish and Italian ~ Some of the Italians from the 1982 World Cup win ~ Paolo Rossi died 4 years ago at only 64 years old ~ I thought it was only last year or the year before ~ Time is flying.

12 years to the day since the legendary Conor Sammon made his Ireland debut in a 2-0 win over Poland.

Wes Hoolihan and Ciarán Clark both scored their first Ireland goals on the night

I know we only drew but it felt like we belonged with the big boys again that night. One of the most aesthetically pleasing games in my Ireland memories.

And of course we more than made up for it 364 days later!

Though funnily enough with a far less impressive performance.

Definitely some quality players playing for us that night, and some that lifted their performances for us, I suppose lifted by the quality players that we had back then.

Always think of this game when Kerr is on TV for Ireland matches (and i like Kerr). needing a goal and you take off your best striker (in his prime) with half an hour left to play.
