So Anthony Buttimer is refereeing the game tomorrow. It should be a good clean contest refereed to a high standard. I have great memories of him refereeing our games.
Has there been any word if this will be televised or even streamed by the FAI like last season?
I can't make it down for the game so looking for some coverage. I presume the trackchamp camera will be on for it but the quality of that is poor enough.

Someone posted this on the City forum:
http://www.ccfcforum.com/index.php?/...omment=1099278Emailed the FAI and they said it won't be streamed live but will have video updates during the game. I'd imagine like they did with with u19 European games.
A man can have no greater love than give 90 minutes for his friends.
Buttimer? Really? ugh.
We don't forgive and we don't forget.
This is a ludicrous appointment that neither team will be happy about, but appointing a Cork referee who has such significant history with Dundalk is extremely foolish
Probably a good thing that he's not officiating a game between us of any real importance. Although there was a few flashpoints in this fixture last year.
I don't think it meant the world to many, if any City fans. The celebrations were very subdued for example. I think beating Dundalk meant more than winning the trophy. But now we've shown we can compete with Dundalk over 90 minutes, (winning 3 of the 5 games in 90 minutes last season and the cup final in 120 minutes) so we have less to prove.
Its still a trophy though and we would prefer to win it than lose it of course. Also every game between Cork City and Dundalk is a big game by its very nature. You know the players on both sides will be up for it. This time around though it doesn't carry as much meaning.
Safe travel to any Dundalk fans making their way down.
Of course he has - because he is a totally incompetent referee who is a narcissistic egomaniac when he takes to the pitch.
There is a very good reason why he has not refereed a Dundalk match since October 2013:
http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/re...-29640435.htmlONE MAN stood out and dominated on the big stage of an FAI Cup semi-final. Sadly, it was for all the wrong reasons.
It's fair to say that referee Anthony Buttimer will not be getting the freedom of Dundalk town any time soon as three key decisions, all made in the space of less than five minutes and all controversial decisions, effectively denied Dundalk a place in the FAI Cup final and saw Drogheda United progress.
The reasons why he has been "overlooked" since have not suddenly changed. He should be put out to pastures permanently, but to re-introduce him in this match in Cork is ridiculous and may add an unnecessary edge to the game. Apart from anything else it opens the door to home town bias accusations (although his nonsensical decisions could go against either team)
Is he not retired? I'm sure he retired a few years back? I can't remember the last time he reffed one of our games other than a friendly or in the MSC. Though he may well have reffed a bunch last year and I'm forgetting them.
how come this game is not on tv tonight?
It has never been on tv in the past I don't think?
first real big game of the season, 2 of the top teams in the country, you would think one of the channels would cover it. i'd say there will be a big crowd at it to.
Was the first one on TV no? Could be highlights now but for some reason I thought it was televised
The president himself gives a few words on the game (although he'll actually miss it as he's out of the country):
Why isn't this fixture played at a neutral venue and how come Cork are favoured in terms of getting home advantage?
thats the problems with having a shortage of decent grounds around the country. Where else could you play it unless its tallaght, possibly galway? i'm presuming there will be a big crowd down in cork and if you did say play it in tallaght or anywhere else i would say the crowd numbers would be small. maybe the crowd numbers come into it. also dundalks pitch would not be ready in time so that option is out.
