    Places in Cork for Hardware

Where would the best place in Cork be for getting various bits and bobs of hardware?

I've tried Southstore in town (nothing much there), Cartridge World (decent for printer stuff but not much else) and Floor Griffen (again very limited). Argos have some stuff but I'd be slow to buy from them and their noname brands.

Looking for wireless card for the laptop, pen drive, usb hubs and other bits and pieces.

Would I be best off driving to PC World in Limerick?
    Oh no not them again

I normally prefer people to buy local but in the case of hardware I invariably make an exception: You'd be better off buying online SOC, buying hardware in Cork is for suckers and emergencies.

    Lightbulb

I don't spend much time in Cork anymore so wopuldn't be too familiar but was looking for internal cable at christmas & went to repair place opposite Lee Garage on the south terrace & they just gave it to me free which was fair enough even if quiet inexpensive.

Theres Digilog on Washington St, dunno what prices like.

Best online store is probably Komplett Good quality & prices.

If you want anyhting priced in PC World PM/text me & i'll check in dubland if i'm passing them. Might save you trip to Limerick...

    My bad

Its actually not too badly priced. At first I was look to buy one cable which had delivery price of €10. I've added 4 items to the cart and the delivery is still only €10. Not too shabby

Excellent customer service though, always a big plus for me. I found the same with ComputerBits.ie. And of course Amazon.co.uk have a pretty good collection of fudgies.

    It Pays to Shop Around

I'm a bit late on this but here's a cautionary tale about not being willing/able to shop around. Where I work we have a procurement department (this is where the alarm bells should start ringing) who have limited the number of suppliers we can use if we want to purchase just about anything.
Now I needed to get a 160GB ATA Hard Drive and our supplier quoted me €180 plus VAT - if it was my money I would have told them where to go with that quote but my hands are tied. I have an identical twin brother who freakily bought exactly the same hard drive online on the same day. This, however, is where the synchronisity ends. He paid £64 inc VAT. To rub salt into the wound he thought that his price was a bit steep for an ATA drive. When I brought this up with the procurement department they assured me that they had secured the best available pricing on hardware and I must have been misinformed

Komplett, just for comparison would have charged me €93 inc VAT and delivery for an equivalent drive.
don't worry, they couldn't hit an elephant at this dis......
