GUFC get First Division licence on appeal

Galway United have received a First Division licence on appeal, as per club sources this morning. This gives us the right to play Cobh and Monaghan four times a season. Whoopee !

Meanwhile, the "Red Biro" fiasco has taken another surreal turn as Sligo Rovers slammed the FAI for insisting that documentation must be completed and returned using blue biros. "This is the unacceptable face of racism and sectarianism in football" said a slightly inebriated "Bit of Red" official, yesterday.

i'm happy to hear we were granted a First Division Licence (i take it that's the "C" Licence) but i thought we were supposed to be well on course for getting a Premier Licence ("B" Licence")

As far as I know ...

.. this season, you can only get a licence for the division you are in.
In my opinion, the licencing system is a joke, as there has not been, nor will there be, any sanction applied to any club that does not receive the appropriate licence.
