Based on the evidence of last season people are quite within in their rights surely to express reservation about Can't Pass O'Brien? There have always been players at Limerick that I didn't rate but never before have I bothered to be so critical on one player in particular. I have no respect for Can't Pass as a player or as a person. I'm sure that he doesn't think much of me either but I can live with that.

I take your point about building bridges from both sides LFCIE but as far as I can see the Limerick support have nothing to atone for. Normally when a player is criticised by a Limerick fan the rest of the support will quite firmly tell the aggressor to shut it. Not once in all the games last year did I hear anybody try and defend that lazy, selfish liability. His defenders are defenders only on the net which says a lot to me. For my part, once the season starts I'm going to treat him with indifference. That's a big step up from where I am now and at that stage it's up to him to prove he's worth more than another one way ticket back to west Cork.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Well said SLK. I must say I was shocked to hear of his return.

None of the Players wanted him there from my conversations with last year's team. He abused more than me, Not that I'm too thin skinned !, which is way beyond the line. Also he was lazy on the pitch and not a team player.

And by the way he was bloody useless as well (nearly forgot that one!!)

Lets see how he gets on, benefit of the doubt and all that, but it would take a lot of Goals to convince me.

I must admit I am horrified that nearly half the people here voted him a good signing. He was dire last season. An embarrassment to the blue of Limerick. And that's saying something considering the ultimate nightmare season we had. At least everyone else, or nearly everyone else, tried their best.

    There you go.

I think he will get goals for us now that the squad is settled and we have a competitive side. But isn't that what football is all about - differences of opinion.

    who are they lol

Im loving the voting thing thats going on. No matter how much the "invisable" CP fans vote they "cant pass" the votes of the persons who are flabergasted at his re'signing. And fair play to LFCIE though for being the only one to come out and say he supports this decision by the new body. Great post SLK!

Has anyone heard an explanation as to why Can't Pass never showed at the Cork City match?
Or could it be that he hasn't really signed?

    cp o brien

I was one of the people who voted for "cant pass",i did so for two reasons, firstly i really believe that this player has a bit of talent and like us all deserves a second chance.Secondly,i have great faith on this new consortium ,they havent done a thing wrong since they took over, new licience, ground etc.and if noc(who knows a lot more about soccer than most of us) thinks he can do a job, well then thats good enough for me.

again fair play for saying you voted for him Dutchie but hes toss and knowone who witnessed his ammm "performances" last season and il just say at home cos he didnt turn up for many away games, most reg match day goers and reg posters here would agree with you. As for the consortium (is there one?) yes they have done well behind the scenes, as we havnt had anything public yet if ye get my drift. Noel may know a lot about football, but i think most limerick fans are quite knowledgeable about the game and EL in particular.

I was at most of the home games and I take your point about Colin P. I was at most of the home games and so your last point (above) cannot be stood up!

Hey LFCIE it is easy for us to argue that those who were at the home games believe that CP was absolutely rubbish (and he was, he's definitely no O'Flynn). I always give people the benefit of the doubt, NOC for example I am giving a chance this season despite my reservations about him so we should do the same about CP, but in regards to the point that Gael made I back him up. There are some people who were around enough to know better than NOC about CP, how many times did NOC watch CP last season. I would guess zero. He is taking a gamble on a player who showed promise maybe two seasons ago but to be honest shows signs of the behaviour that Maradona did when the drugs kicked in, in other words an absolute useless lay-about.

Sorry, Nempton - that wasn't what I meant. I take your point on NOC and CP. I was taking issue with Gael's comment about most Limerick fans being knowledgable about the game. From my attendance at Limerick matches I'm not sure about that one. Being a bit smart.

There was a suggestion a while ago that the LDMC would effectively serve as Limerick's U-21 team but I'm not sure if that's still the scenario.

I have to agree with you on that one but let us not forget Damien's philosophy when it comes to football discussion, "I'm right your wrong". I think we should let him have a crack at managing the U-21's because he is the most knowledgeable of fans, no arguing with that

Easy now - everyone is entitled to thier own opinion - no matter how wrong they are.

i think ye are takin colin p subject a bit far. i saw a lot of the home games last season and in my opinion the lad has potetial he probably never passed the ball because he felt there was no one good enough to pass to.

surely that shows a bad attitude on his behalf. I think Colin can do well for limerick, he has the talent. But after seeing several Limerick games last season and talking to Limerick fans I know why they don't want him.
