FAI to donate €110,000 to GOAL

    from fai.ie::

The FAI will hand over €110,000 to charity GOAL at Wednesday
night’s friendly international clash between the Republic of Ireland
    and Portugal.

The money will be directed to GOAL’S efforts in South East Asia as
the rebuilding effort following December’s devastating Tsunami starts.

The Republic of Ireland squad has donated their appearance fees for
the game and the gesture was matched by the FAI who doubled the
amount. On top of that, money raised from a charity game between
a FAI/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland team and the Oireachtas
and the sale of football programmes belonging to Con Houlihan brought
    the total to €110,000.

The cheque will be handed over to GOAL’S John O’Shea on Wednesday
night by FAI vice-president David Blood, FAI Interim Chief Executive
John Delaney and Jimmy Denehan TD.

Meanwhile, Portugal’s players are donating €10,000 to Tsunami charities
while the shirts they will wear on Wednesday night will also be auctioned
off in aid of the Tsunami disaster fund.

Portugal will wear a one-off black and white strip on Wednesday night
as part of the Stand Up, Speak Up anti-racism campaign and the shirts
are sure to become collectors items.

so how much is the players' appearance fees so?

Why don't the FAI 'Top Dogs' donate their equivilant to this weeks wages from their salaries. I'm sure that would bring it up a nice bit!
