    eL fanzines

Just wondering .... what eL clubs have people doing fanzines ??
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

UCD have STIG (should deflect that comment on the Shels fanzine!) Seems to get good reviews from other people most of the time (so I don't go shamelessly plugging our own fanzine like some here! )

We have Forza Drogs, edited by me own self. We do ok on sales, hoping to shift a lot more this season though. The great thing is that it costs me nothing to print as I get a mate to do it for me with his photocopier at work

On the Shels fanzine. It is quite good, along with Harps one DTTR. Those two were the main influences on me setting up a fanzine 2 seasons ago.

Our fanzine - Down To The River (DTTR) - which has been very successful since its' beginning was only released once last season due to various other commitments.

All going well DTTR will be available at an eL ground near you from late March

We have "The Tribal Bible". Only had a couple of issues last season but hopefully there'll be more for the season to come. Good read

Best League of Ireland ever was the Glenmalure Gazette 1989-1991. Dont think there's much of a market anymore for fanzines with the net providing instant info and instant rumours.

Good luck to anyone who produces them though.

Don't think I agree with that, to be honest. People like having something to read at half-time, and the blend of humour, abuse and humorous abuse that goes into fanzines is much better than some of the stuff that goes into eL programmes. I never really saw fanzines as a way of talking about info and rumours - more as a way of having a laugh. Or maybe they've just evolved over the last few years...?

wouldn't agree. only so many people have access to the net, let alone have time to keep track of everything thats on the net. Fanzines are great for spreading chants, news etc

I presume that 'Out On A Lim' will enter it's third season this year for Limerick.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Why don't all the fanzine editors join together to launch a once off league fanzine with articles from all the fanzines - should be easy enough to organise - done through a mailing list. Then sell them (in place of their normal home fanzine) on a dedicated date at their home grounds.

Interesting idea...like a "Best of eL fanzines"? Could possibly sell it throughout the season... Any takers on organising that though? Would have no problem sending in a few pieces!

What would be done with the money ..... It would need to be something good ... sorta like the engine as most people buy Cork Citys FourFiveOne because they know the money will go back into creating an atmosphere ... and that is the way it should be aswell.

I reckon most would get involved in this but it'd have to be well organised aswell. It would need to be a kickáss layout and content would have to be top notch but yeah ... could see something like that work.

The problem is the amount of abuse in fanzines for other clubs, you'd lose half the content if you put them all together and had to edit that out

And yeah Fanzines are far from an outdated concept imo, they're far far better than the programmes I think.
