There was a serious shortage of defenders all season long. McCormack played at RB and even CB at times. Keohane and Beattie also played RB until Beattie claimed the position. A couple of youngsters also got games. Delaney has been a revelation but he was very raw for the first few games. Nobody knew how many games Benno could play. The back four changed so many times that it's a miracle we conceded the least goals. Perhaps surprisingly for an ex-striker, Caulfield knows how to make a team difficult to score against.

There is great respect at the club for Dunleavy so I'd expect him to stay on if things look ok on the injury front. And there's a whole pre-season to get in defensive cover. Most fans are more worried about the attacking shortfall tbh.

Bolger the first of a few to leave

Remember how exciting it was when his signing was announced and he was brilliant for us. Probably didn't play as much as he would've liked this year but still was very important for us

Was impressed by Coleman this year, but I suppose it's not too hard to stand out in the First Division. Big and physical but can do a job going forward and a threat from set-pieces. Will be interesting to see how he steps up to the Premier, hope it works out. Good attitude too.

Greg Bolger officially announced by Rovers. No word on how long the contract is.

Sheppard signs 2 year deal at Cork. The whole thing was one glorious wind up on Dundalk by the look of it.

Great signing for Rovers, Bolger is a super player.
Was sure Sheppard was off to Dundalk , but at the same time couldn't figure him and Connolly.

I absolutely love Shep so delighted hes staying. Hilarious how thats panned out for Kenny. I'd love to know if he was considering moving up there or if it was all just rumours. Did Kennys comments help change his mind?

Bolger a great signing for Rovers top pro. Can't believe that Shepherd news wonder did Kennys comments mid week make him have 2nd thoughts.

Bolger a strange signing for Rovers having McAllister, they will have same situation that Corks having him with McCormack

With our indiscipline, I'd say McAllister & Bolger will be tag-teaming every few weeks!!

Unless Rovers get a keeper & a striker, this signing won't ultimately mean Rovers finishing higher than 3rd again next year,IMO.

From what i've seen of both players, Bolger is comfortably a superior player to McAllister. especially on the ball, he's far more proactive in getting the ball of the defenders and dictating play.

Sad to see Bolger go, easily one of the best players on the ball in the league. Unfortunate to lose his spot and virtually impossible to regain it. Having him on the bench was a ridiculous luxury and a shame given his ability. Will add serious guile and passing to that Rovers side, plus a winning mentality. He shone brightest in Europe for us.
    j'accuse!

I’m pretty sure Dundalk fans will confirm that he was never that good and they didn’t really want him anyway.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Will probably mention something about ridiculous wages as well.

Players have known about that since mid season so I don't think so.

It sounds like he genuinely changed his mind in the last few days. Delighted.

Given all the talk I'm surprised he isn't signing for us. While he would have been a good signing it was always strange with the wingers we have. A striker is what we need.

Oh and he is useless and we never wanted him anyway and he used us to get a massive pay rise and a million week contract at Cork.

Rumour round here is he was majorly unimpressed that the media , obviously informed by someone at Dundalk, were saying it was a done deal while he was still at City, and Kenny's decision to say what he said last week instead of "no comment" made his mind up.
