Dundalk's reserves (plus Benson) aren't up to much anyway.

    4-0 down at half time!

Not an all too surprising scoreline. Probably a bit surreal for Benson though being part of that, given the games he's been involved in

I didn't Pat's had it in them to be leading anyone 4-0 at half time to be honest.

Though there's some players in there Benson will recognise at least -

Rogers, Gannon, Grimes, Barrett, Poynton, Benson, Shiels, Ciaran O’Connor, Keane, Dalton, Michael O’Connor. Subs - Sava, Mountney, Ubaezuond, Reilly, Whelan, O'Connor, Gartland. Ubaezuond (quick copy and paste!) came on for Grimes very early on. Gartland and Mountney are on now.

Buckin' hell that's some scoreline. Pat's for the league in 2017.

Amazing how a team can lose just under a fifth of their games and win the league title.

I was expecting an meaningless end of season fixture. I wasn't expecting a twitter war.

As for the game, some lovely finishing from Pats. Their goals were of a very high standard. Dundalk made a huge tactical mistake when Grimes went off, they put on a young winger at left back and he was destroyed by Conan Byrne. It was brutal for the young lad and Kenny had to take him off at half time. I felt sorry for the player, it was too much to ask of him.

Yeah, rough on the young lad being taken off at half time, having only come on after 15/20 minutes or so. Surprised Kenny cared enough to bring Gartland on to be honest. What if he'd picked up an injury, in a meaningless 45 mins of football. Thought Pats did well, the extra nous of Fagan and Conan Byrne was the difference between the sides I think We had some youngsters out as well. Thought JJ Lunney looked promising, and it was a lovely goal he got. We can still finish 5th if we beat Derry, which is a whole lot more respectable than it was looking a couple of weeks ago.

Is the young lad not normally a full back? Saw him played there before for Dundalk anyway.

He has played left back for the U19s, but normally plays left wing anytime he plays with the senior team.

Shame Grimes suffered a hamstring injury tonight that will rule him out for at least six months. The hamstring has torn off at the bone.

These are the risks that Stephen Kenny had to factor when making his team selection.

That's horrendous news for Grimes. He's been a loyal and diligent support player for a couple of seasons now. Considering he's probably out of contract next month I wonder if that's going to feck his chances of getting a new contract.

With the money Dundalk have now hopefully they will do the right thing by him, it would be small beer.

Genuinely felt sorry for the lad. Conan Byrne was far too experienced for him and he wasn't helped by a Dundalk side thrown together.

Enjoyable end of season game for Pats fans. Lunney was particularly impressive in a young team

This thing happens every year in the NFL/NHL (Derry are particularly guilty of it), but bar a small bit if grumbling, people accept it.
Dundalk have earned their right to put out whatever side they like, without even beginning to mention their match schedule.

That's a few decent results for Pats recently now. Too little, too late for this season, but something to build on maybe.

Horrible sounding injury for Grimes. Is he under contract for next year?

No, and he is looking at not playing for 6-9 months. Hopefully, the club do right by him. He became a father for the first time on Sunday night and was at the hospital most of the night. He offered to play in order to rest Dane Massey who is carrying a couple of injuries. He was rewarded by getting the worst hamstring injury possible.
