England have had eight attempts on target and four off target. We've had one attempt, which was at least on target.

Final whistle goes. 1-0 to England. Ireland bow out. England very much dominated and we were fortunate they didn't score more as they hit the post on another occasion too. In all, they had 25 attempts at goal compared to our three.

Call me unambitious but happy with that. England seem to have a very strong side, scored ten goals in their three group games against Norway, Ukraine and Netherlands, conceding only one. Our confidence must have taken a battering after that Germany result, despite qualification so this sounds like a gutsy performance and seemed to limit England for decent spells. A much nicer way to bow out that if they had failed to qualify on Wednesday.

Definitely well done to the lads. This is an exceptional England age group . 6 of squad young enough for next year and this years 16 s looked promising winning the victory shield this year and have added a few since mcenneff at Arsenal from the north and Nolan a winger who has been a regular for reading 18s at age 15. We host the tournament in 2019 I think which will be great to get along to

Colin O'Brien was very complimentary of his team's performance after the game:

Spain and Germany's semi-final match went to penalties after a 0-0 draw and the new ABBA format was used to govern the kicking order. Spain triumphed 4-2 in the shoot-out - which represented an uncharacteristic penalty shoot-out loss for the Germans - but there's a video of it here for anyone interested in seeing how the new format worked: https://www.balls.ie/football/spain-...enalties-36514

England and Spain will contest the final on Friday.

Just clarifies what we see happening time and time again with young Irish players. Opportunity and experience are what every player needs. I suppose we really need to accept this, rather than expect young players to just start their careers in the Premiership. Back to Preston, Reading, QPR and the likes of Blackburn for me!

England do heartbreak pretty well in fairness. They led Spain twice in the final but conceded an equaliser in the sixth minute of injury time before losing on penalties.
