Kinsella got a few starts early on but has been a sub more often. He looks talented but he's small, very technical.

Spinning these posts into their own thread. Just trying something new for the underage tournaments - a thread per tournament that I'll move to the archive folder when the team is knocked out. Better than having one monolithic thread for each age group that goes on for years
Live text commentary of the group opener against Albania: http://www.uefa.com/under19/season=2...104/index.html
Thanks Tets. 1-0 up at Albania. Good start if they continue in this fashion. With Gibraltar in the group if they win today, they will essentially be through.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
Finishes 1-0 with Ireland hitting the bar twice, and pushing late on too. Great start.

Super. The whole group is being played in Albania, do I have that correct? If so, that was a pretty big disadvantage so a great win.
Par for the course once you go below U-21 level I think - one country hosts all the matches over the space of a week or so.
Actually, an even bigger win given that the other two teams are Germany (should lose) and Gibraltar (should win) - so this match was almost a play-off for second place, with the top two progressing.
Oh yeah, I'm not questioning the system a such, just not ideal for us that what looks like our most direct rival playing all of their matches at home. In theory, we'd have been better off if it was held in Germany or Gibraltar, but anyway it's all good now barring a disaster.
Beat Gibraltar 5-0 earlier: http://www.uefa.com/under19/season=2...130/index.html
Germany currently leading Albania 1-0, which would see both teams through, with the final fixture deciding first and second
So Germany it is on Tuesday...

Under 18 squad for games against Holland and Germany http://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/crawf...-double-header. Interesting to see kian Flanagan back I wondered if he has jumped ship. Nolan from inter in. The Clark lad at villa seems to play a good bit with villa 23 s. NdaBa is on bench for Ipswich 23 s tonight.Obviously places up for grabs for 19 s in qualifiers in new year
http://www.fai.ie/ireland/match/5550...218?tab=report. 18s drew against Dutch
Lost 3 2 to Germany after been two up http://www.fai.ie/ireland/match/5550...219?tab=report
In spite of the defeat against Germany, this was a heartening couple of games for our U-18s where they showed they could be competitive against two major footballing powers. I've said elsewhere that I reckon there's about 25-30 young players who could be staking a claim for a place in the senior squad by the time Euro 2020 qualifiers roll around and that estimation didn't include any players at this level. So hopefully a decent number of this group can push on in their careers and can put themselves in the frame shortly afterwards.
