Just about to apply for my tickets now. Does anyone know the story with guests on your own TST application? Could it happen that Applicant and guest 1 get approved, but guest 3 and 4 dont? Or is it an all or nothing application?

    As far as I know,

If your application is pulled out of the ballot then all 4 people will be successful. That is unless any of the 4 names appear on another application and then I believe the application (in whole) will be withdrawn.

it says somewhere on the FAQ's that the tickets will be sent out in advance of the competition. Check out the site for clarification.

Ticket orders break two million barrier
    25 February 2005
by OC 2006 FIFA World Cup

The number of tickets ordered for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ has burst through the two million barrier and continues inexorably upwards. By the morning of Thursday 24 February 2005, the Organising Committee had received exactly 319,874 applications requesting a total of 2,198,462 match tickets.
The applications originate from 176 different countries, with 96 percent from Europe and 85 percent from Germany. "Some matches are overbooked, the Final in particular. But we still have tickets for many of the group matches so there's a good chance of success," declared OC senior vice-president responsible for ticketing Horst R. Schmidt. "We're delighted with the response, and just as delighted at the complete absence of technical problems."

Some 812,000 tickets are on offer in the first sales period until 31 March 2005. The lucky recipients of FIFA World Cup tickets will be chosen in a match-by-match random ballot on 15 April 2005. The draw procedure must be completed before ascertaining ticket quotas and a start date for the anticipated second sales period.

For those who are a bit worried about putting in multiple applications because of passport numbers / names on tickets etc... heres a few things I've picked up from the T's & C's

    1) Tickets will have Name & Passport Number on them. Also a unique identifier within an electronic chip. So that access to the stadium can be restricted for lost/stolen tickets etc...

    2) If you are doing multiple applications and you are using parents and friends details etc... try and ensure the 'Lead' person is likely to be someone who is going to the tournament.

Tickets for the first three games will be posted prior to the start of the competition. After that you will need to collect tickets from a WC station somewhere. This is likely to require the letter you got with your original tickets and possibly your passport id. Personally I think this will only be required for the 'lead' name i.e the person collecting the tickets.

I think it is very unlikely that any name/passport checks will be carried out, once you have a valid ticket in your posession. This has never happened before in Japan etc.... Also the terms are loosely worded i.e. 'they retain the right to check if required.....'

    3) It is possibly to change the names on tickets before they are issued. There is a section in the terms (below) whilst not explicit I think you could transfer a few friends (i.e parents names) to a few other friends (mates who are going to the WC) as long as you can prove you are not selling the tickets for profit etc.... 15 months is a long time away, there could be many valid reasons why people you named on your application can no longer go. Fifa have stated this restriction will not be unreasonable. However, I don't think you could change a 'lead' persons name, hence why you should try and ensure that this is someone who intends to travel.

You can update information concerning applicant and/or visitors from 1st of February 2005 onwards in section “Customer Self Service“ at www.FIFAworldcup.com. Please log in with the e-mail address provided with your application and with the password sent to you.
Please use the form received with confirmation of application to communicate later changes.
Should the delivery address (address of applicant) or payment data provided on application change, we request you to provide us with your data. If tickets are allocated to you, they will always be sent to the delivery address provided on the application form, or to the delivery address subsequently provided on the official form for change of delivery address, or to the delivery address updated via the Customer Self Service. For debiting due invoiced amounts the currently valid payment information will be used. Please note that the expiry date of your credit card is part of this information.
Only the FWCTC is authorized to changes names of applicants or visitors. You are not authorized to change them yourself. According to the sales directives and the general ticket sales terms and conditions these changes (i.e. transfer) require an application. On principle, the organising committee will have to give its approval. In special cases (family matters like marriage, death, or illness) the organising committee will give that approval.
This transfer is chargeable. The fee is € 10,- plus shipping.

You are not permitted to sell allocated tickets. The ticket and the entitlement to attend the respective match are linked to the person of the applicant, or to the person of the visitor. They cannot be separated or transferred. An attempt to sell tickets will be considered as an act of black marketeering and will lead to the cancellation of the ticket.
For the reasons stated above, you cannot give away a ticket issued with your name as a gift, either. For tickets you want to give away as gifts, you must provide all required information of the beneficiary in the respective visitor section of the application form. Please note that you, as the applicant, must order a ticket for the same match, too.

Checks will be depending on circumstances and at random. Customers should know, however, that without proof of identity due to lack of documentation, delays and refusal to enter the stadium may be the consequence.

    The Risks

    4) Unlike Euro2004 applications, you cannot decline if successful. A flavour of the costs for 4 x TST-7 Tickets for Rep of Ireland = 4,200 Euro's. If you happen to get 2 or 3 successful applications you are gonna need to make sure you've got people waiting in the wings to help stump up the cash - which I believe will be debited in May. It is sods law that you will get some succesful applications and ireland don't qualify!!!!! I had 10 applications in for euro2004 not one was successful, obviously this didn't matter in the end as we didn't qualify.

    5) If you are succesful and Ireland don't make it. Fifa have your hard earned cash for the next 6 months, before giving you a refund MINUS an admin fee of between 20-50 euros per TST series.

    Best Case scenario

One successful application & Ireland qualify!!!!!

    Good luck folks!!!!!

So have you all applied? deadline today if you haven't. A serious group of us have all put our applications in now, I'll be gutted if we don't get at least one successful application.

Then all that remains is to qualify.....................

My application is in as well, but did I not read that you would be notified by email in the first week of April if you had been successful

I think it will be nearer the end of April.

Tuff_Paddy, I would do it sooner rather than later, in case of a last minute rush and difficulties getting connected to the site! Though I've done about 10 applications now for mates and what have you and its always been fine.

You're also not leaving yourself much time if there are any problems with your application.

    Remember you need

Name, address, DOB, Passport, Nationality, for all the ticket holders
+ Payment method and email for lead applicant.

    Good luck

Over 4 million applications for 800k tickets. 90% of these from Europe and 85% of those from Germany. It won't be great odds on being succesful.

Remember everyone make sure you have enough money left on your Credit Card or Bank Account to pay for the tickets because if you get drawn for tickets they then try and put it through your account and if you haven't got enough money.... someone else gets picked out...

Just submitted my application there for TST-5. It'll be interesting to know how many people here are actually successful!!

Also for anyone planning to apply tonight at the very, very last minute tonight just remember that the ticketing centre is in Germany so midnight there is 11pm here.

Yeah I was lookin at that

    90% of 4 million is 3.6 million
So 3.6 million orders from Europe
    85% of 3.6 million is 3,060,000

    So 3,060,000 orders from Germany

That would mean that we as Irish fans have a pretty good chance of tickets i would have thought? The Germans wouldn't be ordering TST tickets for other countries would they?

Am I right in my calculations or am i reading it all wrong?

    so to carry on,

    5% of 3.6m = 180k ticket applications, say 15% of these are Irish? = 27k applications.

Im not sure how many TST's are available for each match but I would guess that it isn't more than 2k per team at this stage, the rest going to associations, neutrals etc... (as a side check if 32 teams are competing x 2k TST's = 64k x 3 group games = 192k Tickets for the group stages alone. Remember they are only selling 800k in total at this stage.)

Ohh I don't really know, I guess is what Im saying
