Good point, and one that can be developed on; Fairview's squad, as I've said before, is massively unbalanced in general.

Ultra-heavy on attacking midfielders, not so much on players to give them licence to do their thing.

Take Craig Madigan's ongoing injury problems - often this season, in his absence, the club have been forced to play an 8 and a 10, or on at least one disastrous occasion two number 10s, in central midfield.

John Mullane's GAA related absences also left them struggling massively at centre-back on occasion, despite the fact that everyone and their dogs were aware of Brian Fitzgerald and Paul Danaher's respective fitness statuses pre-season.

There's only so long you can get away with patching up those holes that should have been filled, and three defeats from their last four in all competitions indicates that the patchwork ain't holding anymore.

Very generous to Pike there i would have thought..Cappamore a 1b team ?..Pike are full of ex leag of ireland players and jnr internationals .surely Cappamore,s efforts deserve great praise given where they are and where last years Fai finalists are.

I thought it was pretty generous too, as a one-goal victory over third-tier opposition is hardly an ideal way to follow up two consecutive league defeats.

every1 in limerick is ex league of Ireland nowadays. Shows great character to grind out a result away from home. Cappamore are no pushover either sure half there village played for fairview at some stage

Couldnt agree more. Apart from Craig Madigan, they dont really have holding mids. Seen a couple of games where there midfield were over-run .

That problem could be helped if they could free up O Connor from centre half to holding mid but again the lack of recruitment to cover an area most important to an attacking team is costing them.

I thought their defense was pretty solid yesterday, albeit the goal they gave away was a big error. Hannafin kept Sheedy pretty quiet, Mullane gives his all and is very consistent and the right full Conway is coming good again from an operation he had earlier in the season. They need a partner for mullane and the inconsistency of the same 11 and chopping and changing formations can be covered no more as you said, patchwork isnt holding.

Fairview left it behind them Sunday with some dreadful finishing along with some inspired goalkeeping, should have been out of sight.

Agree about the imbalances in the squad, it's ok saying they should have been addressed but it's not easy to pull players out of thin air, it's a small sample size of players playing locally and for all we know they attempted to sign players to balance things up but couldn't get them in. That would be a good question for the podcast!! Get it on!!

if the Weds column is back on good luck to the lad,he deserves a break, the conduct of some people on here regarding that episode was deplorable.on a more important topic some tasty ties in the next round......our premier league champions pitted v the Aul and Fai champions...could be epic.
