Batman (Hughes) played for UCD for much of last season after being released by Collins - scored three or four goals, but played well in general. Good signing for yez.
Any comments, we just signed the two of them. How were they for DC.

Barry "Utility Man" Burke is a legend. Loved by all DCFC fans, great signing.
Respectively the most underrated and the most overrated player to have figured for City in recent years. Barry is a resourceful, energetic (primarily attack-minded) midfielder with a powerful and accurate mid-range shot. He appeared mostly at right-full for Dublin City last season, and acquitted himself with distinction. Played briefly with Monaghan a few years ago, IIRC.
Philly is a reasonably talented striker with a modicum of pace, but not nearly direct enough for my liking. Nor can it safely be assumed that his talents (inadequate at a higher level) will transalte more readily to the First Division; Monaghan, one suspects, will find themselves playing on the back foot for much of the season, and Philly isn't the type to make the best of limited opportunities.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.
Just on that, doesn't Hughes hold the record for most goals in a season at Kilkenny? 14 or 15, something like that? If he can do the same for a similar clubs like Monaghan...Originally Posted by Sheridan
Philly did well enough for us before he went to DC. I wouldnt imagine that he will fight too hard if te going gets tough, although he will probably be looking to rebuild his career after last season.
Kilkenny had a good team that season (Ben Whelehan, Aidan O'Keeffe and Philly Hughes on loan from Pat's), so the situation isn't strictly comparable. Thought Trevor Vaughan held the Kilkenny scoring record?Originally Posted by pineapple stu

Vaughan got 13 in 1998/99, Hughes got 15 in 2001/02 the season after they went down (though they came fifth, compared to last the next two years).
