Second half started with Lasty doing well to clear a headed effort by Gartland off the line. More yellow cards then followed for Lasty and Duxey Dunne and you could sense that someone on the Youths side was going to get two cards. It eventually happened on the hour mark when Peter Higgins was judged to have impeded a Dundalk attack and the Youths were down to ten. Eric Molloy then came on for Conor O'Keeffe on the 70 minute mark as excellent work by Graham Doyle and some last ditch defending by the Youths kept the score to 1-0. Eric Porter then came on with fifteen to go and again impressed on the pitch. The Youths did manage to notch a few corners at the end but didn't really threaten Gary Rogers's goal with Dundalk taking all three points on a 1-0 scoreline.
