Deserved win by the Youths in Ferrycarrig tonight as they took the aerial route to put away a Longford side who only made an impression in the second half. Shane Keegan made a few changes, notably bring back long throw specialist Craig McCabe and the combative Roxy Keenan wide left and went with Graham, Craig, Lasty, Gary, Conor, Eric, Jonny, Lee, Roxy and with Spot and Danny up front. Wexford dominated territorially in the first period by taking the opportunity to get the ball into the Longford half at every opportunity. Chances, however, were reasonably scarce for both sides. First decent effort on goal came on five minutes when Danny Furlong got a snap-shot away, but Coulter in the Longford goal was able to push it away. Four later, a good move between Spot and Danny nearly created an opening, but Coulter was able to come out and grab it. First Longford effort on goal came on 15 minutes from a shot by Hughes, but it proved an easy take for Graham Doyle. On 25 minutes, Longford's Mvita got a yellow for pulling back Roxy Keenan. Wexford were applying lots of pressure at this stage and eventually got the opener on 37 minutes with a sublime free-kick by Jonny Bonner, who curled a left-footer into the top left-hand corner to give Coulter no chance for 1-0. Danny had a volley deflected over the bar right on the break, and the Youths went in deservedly 1-0 up at half-time.

Eric Molloy, also an energetic returnee, made way for Andy Mulligan at the start of the second period after getting a whack on the ankle. Roxy got an early yellow for a tackle on Don Cowan for Longford as the away team upped the tempo somewhat at the start of the second. Cowan was also to receive a yellow shortly afterwards for a tackle on Craig McCabe. On the hour mark,Lasty had a header tipped over for a corner by Coulter and this was followed by Longford's big chance for an equaliser on the break, when Dsane was put through with only Graham Doyle to beat, but he put his effort well over. Wexford then dominated the remainder of the game,with Bonner going close with another pile-driver which Coulter was just able to tip round the post, Gary Delaney heading just wide from six yards out, and Danny putting a header just wide from an Andy Mulligan cross. Longford did put a number of crosses & corners into the Wexford box during the second period, but nobody really looked like getting on the end of any and Graham Doyle was largely untroubled after the Dsane chance. Just as Wexford seemed to be heading for a 1-0 victory, Spot Murphy was able to break right on the ninety minutes, and he was taken down by Coulter while trying to round the Longford keeper, which led to a straight red for Coulter and a peno for Wexford. This was taken by Spot who put it past stand-in keeper, Mvita, in the Longford goal for a final score of 2-0.

at least cousins had the grace to resign afterwards as I was never so disgusted leavin the ground and in all my years followin us I never seen so much ****e on the pitch.In previous yrs we had heart and tried but no more.
