    Travelling to Ports game

I know it's almost 11 weeks away, but who, at this stage, intends to travel to Portadown?

I guess everybody realises the importance of sticking together as a group for this game. I don't really expect any trouble from Ports fans or in the ground, but in travelling to and from the game some problems may, and I stress may, arise.
Realistically, it's a 7 to 8 hour journey each way, and on a Tuesday, so numbers may not be great.

Some suggestions: Ian/OSC runs a bus, pick up exiles in Dublin.
People drive, but all meet in Dublin and Exiles run a bus.

I was disappointed with the draw, but I would really like to make this game, depending on available transport options. Who else is going to go?

    re: meeting in Dublin

It's about two hours from Dublin to Portadown according to www.aaroadwatch.ie, Given that setanta have penciled in provisional kick off times of 7.15, you'd probably need to be on the road out of Dublin by 4.00 at the latest to allow for traffic.

Straw poll of exiles suggests a few of us intend making the trip, but I'd imagine most will try to drive it, maybe in a convoy. If we can get definite numbers I'll check out prices of a bus from Dublin, unless Ian is running one from Cork. It'd have to be up and down same night in that case though

Train seems to be a no no unless want to overnight.

3-4pm from Dublin seems reasonable time to leave for drive.
Otherwise arrange exiles bus if good numbers.

Well who would put a deposit down for a bus next week?

If we have enough to confirm, we should book one.

This would be leaving somewhere in the city centre at 4pm on Monday April 11th.

    I would for one...

I would be up for two seats providing it was a day trip.

    Just a quick question....

Being English, would it be a mistake if I travelled to Portadown??

Lads , this one definately warrants an aircraft charter , Belfast International Airport is only 20 mins from Shamrock Park. Flying time from Cork 1 hour and book a few local busses to do the transfers to the ground. Cant work out much dearer than booking a bus and it gets you back to Cork before midnight.

This is the way to go - its not like the Nantes trip , this is mid-week , off-season , plenty of spare aircraft lying about - definately worth looking into.

Don't mention that we are football fans. Give a personal name or something else. I had a simillar problem before when i tried to organise a trip to a brewery for 40 bartenders. Nobody wanted my buisness so i had to tell a white lie or two.

Flying or the train involves staying overnight.
