Fancy town A and Olympic a to top both groups ...

looks like Town A getting luck of the draw yet again with later kick-offs

Second its an open forum So no apologies about making an observation about Wesley webb fixtures for the last few years favouring Your Beloved Town A ... Not that they need any help to win it as already said I cannot see any other team stopping them winning it yet again..

Think it's common knowledge around that Town more often than not get the later kick off times no secret in it. Also I'd say that surely Town have a strong advantage to win it in that they have 50% of the teams in the competition

They weren't in it last year so Town's C team got preference over Olympic B this year, at least that's what I've been told anyway. Olympic B team are playing first game vs Shannon Town B which is changed to tomorrow as Olympic A have a Fixture vs Tulla, Olympic A team players will then play the fixture vs Hibs on Tuesday

Have Olympic no pride their B team don't even get invited to the local Shannon tournament but they still tog out to play against town B as cover for their A Team ????

Makes a Mockery of tournament and a bit disrespectful That a team not Even in Tournament can fulfill a fixture And then Drop out To let their A team come back in

No pride and very disrespectful Town A have it sown up, I hear Big Daddy has players coming out from Fairview, Town must have gotten their Cheque book out

Great local derby tomorrow night, as Shannon Town B take on Hibs. With Olympic A unavailable to play Town B last Thursday, Olympic B stepped in, but lost 5-0. So despite a good 3-1 win over Hibs, where Olympic A looked like contenders for the Cup, if Town B get a result (draw or a win), it'll be they - not Olympic going through. Hibs will want to rebound after a poor performance against Olympic yesterday.
A big question is who will BJ Cantillon be signing for. He's arguably the best RB in Shannon. Hibs' makeshift defense leaked 3 goals in the first half, with Jamie Egan not a natural RB & Woods not looking comfortable at CB. With Cantillon playing RB, Hibs would be much more solid at the back. Egis could then play wide left/right where he's at his best.
If Cantillon signs for Olympic, he forms part of a solid and impressive back four with the likes of Alex Cole, Pakie Darcy, Power, Teabag and possibly Dougan (if he's not too busy with the little fella).
With Canto at RB, Olympic would be strengthened further to wrestle the Cup out of Town A's hands. But given their superior goal difference and Hibs' poor form, you'd have to say Town B are in the driving seat for winning the group and progressing into the final. An all Shannon Town final?

    E good
Unfortunatly the Once Great Shannon Tournament on has been turned into a Mediocre Pre -season Tournament
Shannon town have not helped with yearly Rule changes and sometimes weekly ??
standard of soccer is Terrible Three 3 rd division teams / One 2nd Division and Two Preimer , Another team Olympic B Don't get invited but yet amazingly play one game in Place of their A team ?? first time I have witnessed a team not in a competition playing a Match And Then Dropping out for their A team must be RULE 999 PAGE 2699 OF Rule book draw & fixtures and dates set and then changed . I Don't think anybody was aware of goal difference counting until after first set of games .
Just in case you all think I'm Anti Shannon town I'm Not just think they have Ruined a Great Tournament , its Good to see them getting stronger from Underage to junior level a lot of other clubs in Shannon struggling to get squads together for new season and Town have approx. 20 players per SQUAD for A,B,C Teams

In fairness old git you have some good points. As for the Olympic a and b thing. Olympic had a team entered in competition it's up to them which players play in it. As for the tournament getting weaker again Shannon town can't do anything about that . Olympic and rineanna have nothing from.junior down and only pick up players from other clubs . They have some loyal players who are there for years but always have to try pick up a few every year to keep going. Hibs seem to be losing their schoolboy set up slowly but surely nothing from u12 up . So to say shannon Town have ruined a great tournament is a joke and very disrespectful. The draw was done in the crossroads for anyone to attend. It was kind of obvious that goal difference would count as you couldn't have the possibility of a 3 way playoff . I'm sure it's not easy to run a tournament especially when your trying to keep 6 teams happy with dates and trying to organise pitches in terrible weather

Give over lads, it's only a pre-season tournament. No one takes it seriously anymore. It's only used to get lads fitness up to speed.

@ Second: "As for the tournament getting weaker again Shannon town can't do anything about that ." Would inviting the likes of Newmarket or the Bridge not make the tournament more competitive? Considering next summer will be the 40th Wesley Webb, would it not be great to invite Newmarket and Sixmilebridge back in, raise the standard a bit and get the big crowds back?
Having it at the Comp and Corrib this year was ok, but I thought Lynch Park was a better venue. What ye think? Comp pitches seem junior-sized and Corrib is slanted and those dykes are fair annoying.
Also with so many friendlies available, maybe change the format from league back to knock-out. If team's get knocked out early, give them an opportunity to play-off against other teams knocked out in the same round?

    Egood

Wesley webb was started as a Tournament for the Shannon Teams only .. Newmarket and the Bridge -Bunratty were only invited when a Shannon team pulled out or could not get a team together to complete .. I may be wrong But Newmarket declined offer to take part a couple of years back after winning trophy and they have not been asked back since and I think bridge / bunratty failed to turn up for one fixture and no invite again >> I Think a straight Knock-out game gives the so-called weaker teams a chance to cause a shock or two lynch park better Venue but you cant fault Town for using other pitches if weather is bad ... as for 40TH Anniversay Wesley webb Next year why not have a special competition for EX /veteran Players might be hard to organize but could add to the Anniversay celebrations and could be a bit of crack
