it may not be a joke Buller. After all your committee are very fond of dough and possibly they are using their collective loaf and see Pat The Baker as a source of much needed bread for the club. I am sure that if Longford Town buttered Pat up a little they could get a slice of the action as well.

i like what your saying buller and i love your optimism. But im afraid that the football clubs might go down the GAA route and build "uncovered stands" as they like to call them. Cork city tried it the annes rd end and i havent heard one city fan say they love it. Longford have a fine stand but the rest of the ground is uncovered and i dont care i know we play summer football but ******x it i always seem to be cold and wet at all these uncovered arenas in the midst of our fine heatwaves. I only hope that Limerick dont go down the "uncovered stand"

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
We will definately have the best ground in the ground in the league then. And the fact that there will be people in the seats will make it even better.

It's because of your ****in holding company that the rest of us who qualified for Europe could get that money 2 years ago.
We could have used that €625,000, so where did Longford get that money 2 tear down half their ground and rebuild it? Also the main stand in Flancare is ****e, we had to go there when they were working on the rest of the ground and you can't see a thing, I'd nearly say there's more poles there than in the Riverside in Tolka!

That money came out of our cashflow for the season and it's been a major struggle finding it, some of it is still owing to the contractors, who are being very patient, we've been approved for grant aid on it but it hasn't come through yet..and it wasn't just us and our 'f*ckin holdin company'that held up your grant, that was a minor delay, try looking at previous abuses of grants by local rivals of yours and also soon to be tenants. You could have used that money, how exactly? I don't see any plans for capital development in Dalymount, and you can't use it for anything else..

How about looking amongst the "big 4" for the club(s) using grant money for wages? That's what's still holding up grants, not what was and wasn't supplied to the CRO by our holding company....

i reckon if we were even in the position of raising the local fund element (sumtin like 20% in disadvantaged areas like the area pats ground is in) it would mysteriously disappear - though they say the money is lock tight !
the fai are at fault for every problem to do with grants cause the sports dept simply let them get on with it as the conduit between the clubs and the dept
it gets on my nerves should simply be a case of - you got plans - yeah - you got PP yeah - you got a grant - yeah - well than build it
As far as im aware it wasn't Pats that were holding things up, now maybe it's just another excuse but it seems that certainly Rovers have drawn down money and not used it for capital expenditure

I actually think the grant aid - and lack thereof is the single biggest problem in this league
with no direct state aid package and plan in place brokered and tailored by a strong FAI nearly all the laudable efforts of the clubs are in vain
I seriously think LOI is just pi$$ing in the wind until the address basic infrastructure - the starting block of any serious product
its a fine minority sport for die hards like us but it will never be a viable proposition until there is grant aid channeled into clubs
is the way previous grant aid was administered by the FAI and spent by certain clubs to pay their day to day running expenses.There is a Dept. of Sport investigation into this and the FAI have to appear before the Dail Public Accounts commitee in relation to this and other matters.
John Delaney tried to put the total blame on the clubs after the licensing failure last week but this is as much an FAI Problem as an EL Problem.This was one of the main reasons John O'Donoghue Baulked at Delaney and his sidekick Peter Buckley being installed as CEO and Financial Officer and why he is also insisting that the FAI dont have a majority on the imterview board for these jobs.
There are also a number of clubs who have not drawn down money previously granted to them due to a number of areas which they have not met the criteria including having money of their own to match the funding they are receiving.

and that matching funds will never be in place from LOI clubs - because LOI football is not a capital raising business - its a loss maker
until they change the policy - a la the favoured terms given to GAA LOI clubs will never be able to use funding to any substantial effect
