Supporters of eircom League First Division club Galway United have made their feelings known on the issue of the club’s name, with more than 90 per cent of voters in an eleven-a-side.com poll keen to keep intact the current name of the Terryland Park club.
Following the takeover of the club by Galway intermediate club Salthill Devon late last year, there had been fears that the club would be renamed.

If name is changed ye might lose the Galway County support or at least those people won't identify with Salthill.
the chairman of SDFC Ollie Daniels has been quoted that " I am sick to death about the name change, if there is going to be one it will probably just dropping the fc part and leave the name at Galway United ."![]()
Most city folk don't identify with Salthill either........Originally Posted by pete
