Well the 5 categories are finance, safety, legal, sporting administration
and infrastrucutre so I presume they are looking at how other sports
manage to get these right.
Also the committee is to be masde up of people independent of the FAI
The FAI licensing appeals committee is chaired by Gerry O'Mahoney.
The other members are
Accountant Philip Barton
Lawyer Martin Giblin
Surveyor Ciaran Sudway
retired Garda Superintendent Joe Harte
Irish Basketball Association chief executive Debbie Massey
former IRFU president Noel Murphy
Theresa Hurley from the sports studies department at UCD.
Basketball, Rugby?
What particular expertise are these people bringing?![]()

Sports administration I would imagine. You don't need to be steeped in football to know how to run a business.Originally Posted by patsh

What do they do? "Study" a lot of matches on Sky Sports?![]()
Is there any chance the above committee could be appointed to the FAI Council while the Government appoints officers from the civil service, business and former Irish managers such as Eoin Hand, John Giles and Liam Brady (i.e. Celtic) instead of the current crew.
If the FAI want expertise on Sports administration, surely they can do better than a past President (which is a honary title) of an amateur game?
When Murphy was around, rugger looked down on professional players and somehow managed to believe they were all "gentlemen". Can't see what this guy brings to the table except a superior attitude.
Maybe the Basketball admin is a good choice, as she is in charge of sport which has a mix of amateur/semi & fully pro players.
Bit of drinking there too! Looks like we're sorted for our appeal so!Originally Posted by pete
