Isnt it only a "C" Licence we need for the First Division this year??

taken from: http://www.fai.ie/article.asp?hlid=2...avlid=&sublid=

Last season, two Licences were available – a Premier Division Licence (that also gained entry into European competition) and a First Division Licence – with two clubs initially being refused a Licence before gaining First Division Licences on appeal.

However, this season, there will be three separate Licences for European competition, the Premier Division and First Division which the FAI hope will help to sustain the improvements made last season.

GUFC fail to get licence

.. according to club sources, GUFC failed to get a First Divsion licence. We passed under Financial, Sporting, Legal and Infrastructual, but failed under Legal.

Apparently, the articles of association of or holding company were not completely up to date. Thisis a technicality - we should be able to get the licence on appeal.

Sligo Rovers, meanwhile, had their licence application rejected because it was written in red biro.

ya just read it in The Sentinel there "..., but lost out as it had not confirmed that the Memo and Articles of Association of the Company held on file by the FAI since last year was the most up-to-date..."

so basically all we have to do is confirm that it is the most up-to-date one

Clarification ...

Financial
Sporting
Personnel
Infrastructural

failed Legal.

The Sentinel also mentions three new people on the board of directors - a leading hotelier, financier and a big player in the world of transport.

The last one could be Padraig O'Ceidigh of Aer Arann. His name has been bandied about. One of the most successful businesspeople in the
country. Would be quiet a coup - will find out tonight.

according to the new chairman for GUFC Niall O' Rielly if a premier club fails to get a premier licence they can be relegated to the first division, IF, a first division club gets a premier licence (which is what GUFC will get on appeal). The promotion to the premier division will be offered to the highest finishing club from last season e.g. dublin city will be first as the were relegated, then Kildare for finishing fourth, then Galway and so on....

With all the clubs failing there is definitely going to be a few of them failing the appeal also!!! INTERESTING TIMES AHEAD

Has the name of the amalgamated/taken over club been finalised ? I presume the licence application would have been in the new name. Is Niall O'Reilly the chairman of the new outfit or Galway United ?

Our licence application was sent in before the 17th December deadline with the name Galway United on it.
The new outfit consists of 3 entities, Salthill Devon, Drom & Galway United, so therefore as far as i know we will be keeping our name.

Can you imagine the uproar if it was to be changed, see below:
