Why doesn't flush the cache like other email accounts, by that i mean when you hit refresh nothing happens even though a mail has been sent to you and others, and the others have received it ages ago ??

I often send mails to myself without any problems. In your Inbox it appears as Me. I like the usability and think its much better than any other webmail service out there.
I know ... i see that, but some mails dont get there. i have tested it. If i reply all, from my gmail or other it get it all the time (well at least i have noticed anything missing thatway) but definitely some go missing, and they are in the sent items, check address etc. ... others receive it, not myself.

You should send gmail an email with your issues. They usually respond. Gmail is only a beta version and not a full release so there are bound to be some problems.

So move it from Sent to Inbox. Why do you need two copies?
Gmail uses XMLHTTP to suck just the necessary information required to refresh your Inbox, negating the need for traditional full reloads from the server. So hitting the Inbox link on the left-hand side - Gmail does this periodically on it's own anyway - will pull down the latest folder count and messages and "push" them into the interface. With this in mind, I fail to see the usability problems, or "glitches"? That's the way it's supposed to be, you're just not using it right.

That's true but the quality of service from the leading webmail providers is very good. You're getting a top notch service for FREE!

That's the type of money your company will have to pay just for the software to provide you with an e-mail account.
Throw in a decent spec. HP Proliant with High Availability, an adequate storage unit and backup solution and you're easily talking another USD$20,000
The hardware prices are higher in Ireland.
Be grateful for the decent choice of free webmail available.

Anyone using Microsoft solutions for email should be hung, drawn and quartered for wasting company time and money.

Apples and oranges, chalk and cheese. A more realistic comparison would be an ISP POP3 account (usually free) and regular email client (usually free).BTW I wasn't suggesting that a company should use webmail solutions as their primary mail. I was merely pointing out the costs involved.
Obviously some people can't use POP3 because they travel around a lot, but even if that was the case, if my email was any way important at all, my primary account would have to be with a tried and trusted commercial webmail operator that doesn't try to assert control or ownership over my mail.
You have zero control over your mail with the freemail crowds, they could delete the lot by accident or intentionally and be completely covered.

I'm paying about $30 a year for domain+mail (they upgraded me to 1GB when Gmail started goiving for free) & problems at all. Once i'm setup for broadband with download to my local client.
One problem I have with Gmail and the reason I haven't changed over from Hotmail yet, is that when you get those joke e-mails that you want to forward to friends, with hotmail you can just click your friends name from the contacts list on the side and it adds their address. With gmail you have to type the address. Is there a way around this that I'm missing?

The glass isn't half full or half empty it's just too damn big!
You could also just put in a UK address and get a @Hotmail.co.uk account. You've a better chance of getting something which resembles your name. Anyone stuck for a UK postal address could just use the address of their fav football club which is normally listed under "Contact Us" on their website.
I expect I'll have people having a go at me now for promoting .co.uk addresses!
