That seems to be something that Doolin likes. He brought our squad to Malta, I think, in the 2003 pre-season. Don't know how much good it did though as we lost our first 7 games in the league afterwards!
leeds are set to play drogheda in a friendly and if that isnt enough
Drogs announce pre-season Turkish Expedition
Eircom League Premier Division club, Drogheda United, have today (20 January) announced details of their pre-season tour to Turkey. The club's squad of full-time professionals together with manager and backroom staff will travel to Turkey's Antalya Region on Saturday 26 February and return on 5 March. The side will stay at the exclusive Papillion Belvil Hotel and Holiday Village, a five star resort on the beach in Belek. Although this is the heart of the Turkish golfing region, the sportsman of every code is well catered for.
Manager Paul Doolin is said to be delighted with the opportunity to be able to allow the squad to bond by being away for seven days. "We have a lot of new faces coming in and I want the lads to get a chance to get to know each other on and off the pitch before the season kicks-off at home. While we are in Turkey we will face two sides, one from Poland and one from Turkey so I will be able to try out some tactics and formations as well whilst we are in Turkey" the manager said.
To help fund the trip the Club will be running a race night in February – full details will be posted on the Club website in the coming days.

Antalya is the place where sea, sun, history and nature constitute a perfect harmony and which also includes the most beautiful and clearest coast along the Medditerranean.
Antalya is located in the west of the Medditerranean region. Antalya is a Turkish city and an important port. Antalya has been growing rapidly since 1960 and its population is 1,146,109 acccording to the 1990 census.
The climate of the province is typicalyl Medditerranean: hot and dry in summers and temperate and rainy in winters. Sunshine is guaranteed from April to October and the winters are pleasantly mild. The humidity is a little bit high, about 64%, and the average water temperature is 21.5 °C. Antalya is really a heavenly place where the summer season is about 8-9 months long. The March day time temperatures average 18 degrees.

As as Cork City fan living in South County Meath and thus a near neighbour of the Drogs I hope that you can run enough race nights to fund the trip. Where are you guys getting the money to run your club with full-time pros on a limited budget?Originally Posted by BobtheDrog

Yeah, and a good trip for the players too

Other ideas floating about to fund the trip as far as i know - race nights are alot of work - too much work - and there are easier ways to raise the cash in imo
