That figure doesn't include UEFA matches We'd be way ahead of second if it did.

Longford Town have the best supporters and the best ground in the country. A lot of Town followers tend to have Gaa orientated mind sets and may not be regarded the most educated of soccer supporters around but they'll surely learn in time. LTFC is the most progressive club by a long shot and have made serious strides in such a short period of time.

Don't like saying it but the l@ngers from Cork have a great following at the moment. But why wouldn't they with a such a large population?
Derry City is a sleeping giant and have great vocal support.

Longford town need to get another cash injection .... it aint coming from crowds (that could be there) ... so i think until the bar and astro-turf pitchs are open ... you'll stay the way you are right now. If the crowds did get behind your club in the way that they should, it would be totally unreal and the role-model club for the league .... but it aint happening.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Shamrock Rovers ...only team to bring a decent away support up here.
Cork City have impressed me recently with their away support for the Journey Invloved.

You're right, we need more money coming in, the astro-turf pitches are up and running a while now and the bar should be open for next season. There's also a big push on sponsorship on at the moment so hopefully it'll all help, but we do need more people coming to games and I think the club are aware of this so hopefully there'll be some kind of publicity push before the start of the season, we have to try and get a few of the bandwagoners out there more regularly

Oh, and on topic, always liked the Pats fans, Derry are great too.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Best imo are Rovers and Harps. Pats would've been up there too, but for the total implosion of the SEI last season. Respect to shels I suppose too, but that native american effort is a bit gay really.

They're the only 4 I would really rate - I remember pathetic away support in the past in Flancare for all the other contenders (and Saturday night games too)...

You have me absolutely lost there, A face! What are you talking about?!

(I get the bit about the low crowds, by the way, so don't bother pointing that out! Though you should mention the six eL clubs with lower crowds than us last season...)

Shamrock Rovers supporters are so far ahead of us all! The amount of crap they have had to put up with over the last 20 years, and yet still they create a better atmosphere than anyone bar none.
PS They still need to sort out the few *******s that attach themselves to the club!

By referring to 'fans' i'll assume this means the people that actually attend the games as opposed to the stay at home type that over a few pints declare "I'm a rovers/bohs/shels/cork/drogs/whatever fan, havent been in yonks though"

For me the best fans are Finn Harps & until recently Pats, though Pats seem to have wilted recently, Derry can be good butt are joining Cork in the stay quiet until they score club!

A special mention though, anyone that trawls the first division season after season deserves credit for their support! That cannot be easy!!

I don't know how you can say that about us. At away games in paricular the noise generated by the Rebel Army is relentless and even at home games the Shed is in full voice throughout at most games. I think you've got it seriously wrong DVB, unless of course you're on about the Donie Ford Stand or the St Annes end in which case you have a point!

I think only ourselves and Rovers do this whole non-stop singing no matter what lark and it's great imo. Bohs and Drogs seem to have perfected the stay silent no matter what lark!!

A bit harsh on Derry fans KOH.

And just for the record : Derry's nearest away league game is Longford or Drogheda - a third of the way across the country !! And that's our EASIEST option to get to....!

It's not much better for Harps, but at least they had Sligo and Monaghan nearby them until now. Having them back in The Prem will at least ensure one sensible journey for Derry fans....

I have to agree with DVB. Cork are decent away from home but the times we played you in recent seasons the noise levels weren't anything special. In particular the time you beat us 2-1 with two goals in the last five minutes last season the Shed was deathly silent. Possibly because there were 5,000 odd missing that day, who knows?

Eh no, no you're not. I wont even mention Shels but the Derry fans are far louder than the Cork ones, espically the away ones, and they've had far less to sing about recently.

Observation from seeing Derry last season in drogheda twice and a few times in dublin is that their travelling numbers have decreased a good bit from previous years. However was very impressed with the noise levels for the few that were there for their last match in Dalyer last season (though that drum just goes through my head - no offence)

Rovers fans are unreal the way they've stuck with their club and still make so much noise. Derry fans and longford fans are always really sound as well. In the First Division, Limerick and Harps all seem to be sound lads as well, Limeick win it on the basis of the ****e they've endured- just like rovers.
