    Realistic

Ok we all know about there is a bit of a buzz surrounding Limerick Fc at the moment but Limerick finished bottom last year and its not like there are any major changes to the squad. Most of last years squad are set to sign with a few unproven Junior players and maybe a couple of experienced LOI players also.I think realistically 4th place would be a reasonable place in the table this year with anything above being a bonus.Limerick could build on that then and maybe aim for premier football within 3 years or is this too much to ask??

The club should aim for promotion. Every club should want to play at the highest level possible. The last thing I want to hear from the club is the nonsense that we should not try to win promotion because it is too early etc etc etc. Tommy Lunch came out with that nonsense a few seasons ago - no chance the club gave the fans back their money when the club was trying not to win promotion. You win your matches and you take your chances. Who knows what will happen in the future. At the end of next season then we review and see if we are happy with progress.

I don't think promotion is unrealistic (though I would be happy to see really solid progress). The players being held on to from last season are good players - and the signing of a few good experienced players will have a big effect on those already there.

Good that we are even thinking this way.

Totally agree with you. Limerick have to have some ambition, and it should be promotion. Surely the team will take to the field for every game trying to win it. If not what's the point?

Well seeing as ye very nearly made it two years ago, it would be foolish to rule it out. If a team (even Kilkenny) is not trying to win promotion, then why bother at all.

I reckon that it might not be this season for ye myself, but if the progress continues, it should be as 1st Division champions in 2006. I'm looking forward to your imminent return to the Premier, and the Munster derby hype to go with it, and I could live with it sooner than later.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

Then let's show some ambition and bring in some players. So far Mooney is the only new face with eircom League experience right? I think that Barrett will probably prove a good signing too but let's give a couple of games to find his feet yeah? The others are all speculation at the moment in the same way that Paddy Purcell was...

I'm sure last years team took to the field for every game trying to win it. It was an infrequent happening though.

First job is hold on to the good players you have. Something we didn't do last year. So signing up Kerry boys is a good move. Mooney is a good signing too. The junior signings are good and remember we are trying to build an u-21 team from scratch as well. In any event its the end of January. Two months to the start of the season. I will be surprised if more signings aren't announced.

While I do agree with you to a point I've yet to hear that Finucane or Fyffe have signed new contracts and as they ran away with the player of the season award last time out I'd presume that people would agree that should have been a priority? Signing the Kerry lads is all well and good but Lynch and Sugrue hardly featured and O'Mahony had a poor season to be honest. We haven't held onto our best players yet this year either though hopefully that'll be rectified in the coming weeks.

Lynch and Sugrue were injured for most of the season. Wouldn't agree that O'Mahony was poor. He was on the Republic's U19 squad after all. But this did mean he missed quite a few matches.

Would agree that there are some players who haven't signed yet which is worrying. This would want to be sorted out surely as soon as possible.

Actually he lost his place in that squad early on this season and struggled for form all the way through. He was a shadow of the player that so impressed in his first season. He's still only a young lad and I would have been furious had he been left go but he has some ground to make up to get back to where he was. Don't let your Kerry loyalties blind you, JohnD just a good job at keeping his in check most of the time!
