so let me get this straight, the Israeli fans and this newspaper think we undersestimate Israel (in this article about our country as you said) but they have not talkled to a single Irish supporter or player ?
Just what kind of newspapers do you guys have there ?
As I've already said i dont undersestimate the Israeli team and i do not know anyone who does
If you dont underestimate Israel it dosn't mean that everony in your country dosn't.Originally Posted by Cowboy
The reporter did quote a fan that said that he will stay at home because you will win for sure.
The reporter did say that your coach dosn't underestimate Israel and the coach also said: "he need's the green-army with the team" .
I did not say it did , I merely said that I have not heard one person saying they did not think Israel was a threat.Originally Posted by the_bonk

I really dont know how the journalist came to this view and i would question his motives. The fact that not many are travelling is no indication of whether we consider Isreal to be a threat or not.
I personally think that Israel are as big a threat to us than either France or Switzerland
Make no mistake, as neither France or Switzerland have managed to beat beat Israel and they are unbeaten in four games, the Irish team, their manager and the fans will have the utmost respect for Israel.Originally Posted by the_bonk

hi bonk, was shocked to read that, maybe the israeli media think we are like the english and think we are going to win all the time, and every gamei am concerned about this game personally, i really want ireland to win, but i do not believe that we are guaranteed to win this or the next 2 games. God i hope so,
not as many fans will go to this game due to its clash with easter(family commitments) and cost and for some chickens, the security
i will be crapping myself watching this game, same level as switzerland and france. may the best team win

I presume the assumption by the paper is on the basis that so few fans are travelling to the game in comparison with Paris. This of course has nothing to do with the importance of the game which cannot be understated. It is as Kerrs Tribe said a matter of security and the fact that the irish sporting public are largely 'event junkies'.
<insert witty remark>

The thing i will do is : Ill open a new thread after the game , and ask :
1. Is Israel safe ? ( 99% will say YES for SURE ).
2. Did you have fun ? ( depend's on the match's result probably but im sure that besides the game the fans will have a very good time )
As for the game....
You shouldn't say : WOW Israel is so good , Im " buying " a draw and **** like that. You are a much better team then we are, so why are you are saying that you will take a draw?
On the other hand , you must understand the Israeli reporter.
This year is a big chance for us....and this is a very importent match if not THE most importent one. So the reporter is trying to people to angry at your country maybe ....i dont know what he was thinking about but i think you understand what im talking about.
By the way ( for the ones who are coming ) .... eat before and after the match in the mall ( the have fast food....etc ) because inside the stadium they don't really give you any good food.
P.S- I still can't believe why we ( Israel ) have such a bad stadium IMO, and we want to be a "modern country" . I was in Euro 2004 and In the Amsterdam Arena ( when Maccabi Tel Aviv was In the Champions league this year ) and im planing to go to Germany ( with or without my country ) ....so the stadium's in Europe are years of light far better then Ramat-Gan. ( sorry for bad English )

If you don't know Turkey is part in Europe and par in Asia , so to tell them not to play in Europe is really not fair.Originally Posted by davros
About us...You are right we should and WE DID play in the asian qualifiers , but there is no-chance we could no there against teams like Iran etc...
When you talked to about Israeli's and you cant compare them with europe are you talking only about soccer or other things as well?
didnt like your post at all by the way..... i think its a little racist
Yes , we have diffrent cultures but that dosn't mean we can't play in Europe.Originally Posted by davros
You don't know this but the Asian team and esp. the Arab's didnt want to play anymore against us , and thats why we moved to Europe .
Did you know that in the Athens this summer an Iranian Judo ( i don't know how you say it in english so i hope its an international word , the sport ) didnt show up against someone from our team?
Wait...Is it wrong that we have diffrent cultures we can't play in Europe?
Don't like your messages at all.....they don't smell right ( mostly because you attacked Turkey without even thinking that they have some land in Europe. Wait if your not from France, Italy , Holland , Germany it means we can't play against you???? )
If you come to Israel , I would like to talk with you about this subjects.
the last time we beat decent opposition was away to scotland in 87. nearly 20 years ago. i think you'll find that the majoirty of people that post here are regarding the isreal match as extremely tricky.Originally Posted by the_bonk

Davros-I have only one thing to tell you about "wannbe" **** : we have no choice , we have to play in Europe.
Other then that , your posts are disgusting me. and ill stop comment your posts.

You'll see our stadium Lansdowne Road if you come to Ireland in June. Most Irish fans are embarrassed by the stadium we currently play in. 22,000 permanent seats in two stands and 14,000 temporary seats built on two terraces behind the goal. Plans are currently in progress to demolish and rebuild as a 50,000 all seated.
As for Israel away being an easy game, I don't think so and I think most fans would disagree. If we get three points we will be doing very well.
hi bonk, u replied to my post earlier,i implied that some people in ireland will be concerned about the security, those who are a wee bit ignorant, i personally would go if i could afford it, i would not worry about the security, maybe a few yrs ago but not now. i understand what u say, it is a similar thing in northern ireland, people outside(who have never been) see and read things in the media and write-it off straight away, where i am from, the noisiest thing is a tractor going down the road.
trouble compared to over 10 years ago is non-existent, may occur in small bad areas of larger towns or cities. my foreign friends are shocked when they come to belfast, how quiet, peaceful and friendly it is. i never said i would settle for a draw, we need a win IMO. i think the reporter is trying to drum up some extra support amongst your people as Israel are up alongside france ireland and the jammy swiss. they are still in it. so i will shut up now. don't be offended by davros, he's really a teddy-bear

Imo they are defently not ignorent , they just know what the media "feeds" them, so i understand the people that are scared because they remember what they saw in the news two years ago in the media. But this is not the situation now.Originally Posted by kerr's tribe
When some of your friend's will come back they will tell you that what they saw in TV 2 years ago is not even similar to real life ( same thing goes to Belfest ) .
I replyed like that because you said that some people won't go because they are "chickens" , and i think you understand why i replyed the why i did.
I REALLY hope that we will be in the same group before 2008 EURO and then, much more of you will come after you will hear its safe and fun here.
Bonk, dont let Davros get you annoyed. He usually talks rubbish!Originally Posted by the_bonk
