    Record Run of Wins?

I believe Limerick FC have now set a record for competitive wins for a league club. This is both the general record and also the record from the start of the season.

It is 16 wins so far with 12 league games, 3 EA Sports Cup and 1 FAI Cup.

Bohs in 1923/24 won their first 15 league games. Waterford in 1965/66 won 13 successive league games and 2 FAI Cup games before drawing 1-1 with Limerick in Kilcohan Park.

    Corrections/Comments welcome.

Note I'm not counting the Munster Cup as a competitive competion. The defeat by Cobh was in pre-season anyway.

I think in 1959-60 Limerick won all 11 home league games - it's one to keep an eye on as well.

We did and lost 7 out of 11 away games and still won the league. Lost to Pats on the last day when needing a point for the title. My father was among those walking back from Dalyer to Kingsbridge muttering "typical Limerick to blow it" when word came though Cork Celtic had beaten Shelbourne and we were champions. 30 points was a record low winning points total for a 22 game season too.

Lost a home cup tie that season. We are on 6 successive home league wins so a long way to go there. Although 9 successive competitive home wins.

Having a quick look at the results and I think you maybe right about this record. I only have League results currently in my database as I have incomplete data (about 90%-95% complete) in relation to the other league competitions but a preliminary check on the Dublin City, Top Four, Casey Cup, FAI Cup, Shield and League Cup games I already have seem to backup this record.

Has anyone ever gone a season unbeaten though in the top flight ?

Thanks. Only 18 games in those seasons. Very interesting reading but I wonder why does it end in 2006 ?

And the last team which no longer exists to win the league is (without looking)...

Probably because the same information had started appearing in Wikipedia?

    Cork Celtic I think.

Anyway, Cork City fail to join Shamrock Rovers as unbeaten in a league season.
