Daryl Murphy signs contract extension

Waterford United's prolific goalscorer Daryl Murphy has committed his immediate future to the Blues by signing an extension to his current deal. Murphy, who scored 22 goals for United last season, put pen to paper on a new deal this morning, which will keep him at the club until the end of 2006.

"I am delighted that Daryl has decided to extend his contract," commented Blues boss Alan Reynolds. "He was in tremendous form last season and seemed to get better as the year progressed. Given his potential, I have no doubt that Daryl will continue to improve and his decision to stay at Waterford United is a huge boost for the club and the rest of the squad."
