" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
is this single for charity then?
Anyone see the Thai Tims one? By far the best song I've heard so far
yep its very good. I even shared it on my wall in facebook. Just waiting for stutts to comment on it, and then admit he didn't watch and doesn't need to, to express his disdain for frying pans and camper vans.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
It's impressive how the Thai Tims manage to end most lines with a word that ends in O
In that I include Bordo, sorro and Carlo.
Anyone get the impression the Thai Tims were brainwashed from an early age

It might be 125 years later but clearly there is still some institutional memory from being set up by a Christian Brother.
On the songs they are all rubbish. Unless you rip off the melody from something very well known and keep everything very simple you have no chance of people singing it on the terraces.

Bring Back Belfast Celtic F.C.
Another Norn one:
Tremendous amount of output from the lads up there...
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.
The Irish song isn't entirely brutal, but I don't agree with the use of 'Óró sé do bheatha abhaile' in the song. A rebel song isn't exactly representative of the nation of Ireland.
It's desperately hard to write a football song though. You have to borrow a song from somewhere to make it into a classic, take "Put 'em under pressure" for example, it would be nothing without the unmistakable riff of Johnny Fean from Dearg Doom.

'Cop yourself on' is a bit harsh no? Seem to have hit a nerve there.
I would have assumed it to be common knowledge that while a traditional Irish ballad, it would be better known as a rebel song, adopted by the volunteer forces during the Easter Rising in 1916 and subsequently during the war of independence, as you put it, as a marching tune.
Certainly was never a 'national school ditty' where I went to school.

Gentlemen, we have a rule about personal abuse, as you are well aware.
I did learn Óró sé do bheatha abhaile in school, but I would be loathe to describe it as a ditty
Then I'll say cop yourself on -the Irish song IS entirely brutal. Wouldn't take much modification to make it Macedonias high hope for Eurovision.
Very few 'good' football related songs out there, fewer again commissioned for a tournament. The ones that have lasted and have most merit, in my view, are the ones that were a bit off kilter and took a bit of a chance ...like the one The Lighning Seeds did for England when the safer bet would've been to get Take That/Barlow to do it instead.
Ours is in no way off kilter and takes no chances. It couldn't be any more paddywhack plod if they'd buckle hats on.

Ye lads wouldn't get this, but I think Seamus Moore, is actually pretty good at putting words together. Very simple stuff, he probably doesn't know much in the football world to make the lyrics though. Football songs are all about simple but effective ryhmes, and no one has really hit that apart from Liam Harrison.
Poeple just want catcy, simple one-lines to grab onto. They take off.

I love how Paul starts so many posts patronising people.
