When one of these club takeovers actually results in improvements to stadia, then I will be impressed. Until then they are potentially just another Arkaga, Peak 6…

Fair comment! The inclusion of yer conjunctions, and adjective like 'potential' are reasonable both in the possibility things could work or that they may not. A long way off from the Mystic Smug hissy fits seen in prior!

Should have added earlier, this new investment group comments on making some improvements to United Park and any ground development is a long term aspiration sounds very familiar and now as it was for Dundalk fans previously, theres a wishlist for a real indicator of long term involvement and hence obviously a tangible committment to capital projects at a club, as ger alludes to.

Couple of things of note is the debt that DUFC were carrying, €4-500k is a big debt for a club that was supposedly running on a shoestring with sensible budgeting. If this investment wasnt happening Drogheda's existance would soon have been at risk so fair play for that being sorted. The €1mil cash injection is huge for Drogheda right now though it is likely that that figure includes clearing debt with ground improvements eating in to this initial inestment further - it is very good news that at minimum the clubs finances are stabilised irrespective of any cynicism on US investment funds.

(By contrast P6 landed in Oriel with over €3mil in cash reserves with additional European income to come, value in coefficient/seeding, and a league winning squad on the books. That there isnt very much to show for that in terms of Oriel Park is infuriating. It would be interesting to know how much P6 'invested' rather than draining bank accounts - maybe the Fastfix owners didnt include this money as part of the sale? Im not convinced pandemic costs broke things as much as one batsh1t bonkers person who didnt have to answer to anyone and thought he knew it all....) If Drogheda can keep people on board who will be able to migitate any crazy American dictator messing then they will be in better shape than we were regardless of the differing finances/European qualification etc.

Another thing of note is the comment on the land for a new stadium. It was claimed previously that LouthCoCo had given land to Drogheda - misinterpreted by a good few as LCC contributing to DUFC's stadium project but not Dundalks. It didnt make a whole lot of sense at the time regardless of the stuff floated by Conor Hoey at the time and the RTE piece seems to indicate that a site was only 'earmarked' for a future stadium not committed to or land handed over. It was probably an agreement in principle to zone the land for recreation and imo, being a former employee of LCC in a related department, a land swap for United Park would most likely have been part of the deal, LCC do nothing for nothng. Otherwise that project could have progressed by the club, cashing in on United Park using the proceeds for at least a pitch and stand at Termonfekin with UP closing when the new ground became sufficiently developed under a turnkey agreement.

Arkaga's involvement with CCFC was different too imo, simply as Turners Cross was already a reasonably good ground in that era so wasnt a glaring area that needed major investment. The MFA have done a ine job on the ground without an investment group since. It was more that they were dishing out big player wages that they didnt have the deep pockets to meet in a downturn of on field fortunes.

Like P6, Trivela can be cautiously welcomed early on but with a healthy skeptisism of their real committment long term. We shall see one day!
