Peter Thomas died yesterday. He was Waterford's goalkeeper from the glory days of the 60's and 70's and reckoned to be one of the best goalkeepers in LOI history and won 2 Ireland caps. He made almost 600 appearances for Waterford ,winning 5 league titles and an FAI Cup.

He appeared for the LOI against the Italian league B team (back in the day such fixtures took place) he swapped shirts with their keeper and thereafter for years used to wear that shirt which was way ‘cooler’ than the standard LOI one….. a wonderful keeper RIP

Such a civil and at times witty lad. Was always there at the gate or to escort the ref off. Match night won't be the same without him

Great to see a big turn out at the funeral this morning

Our ex groundsman Anto Maguire recently passed away. He was head groundsman from 03-22. He only recently retired before sadly passing away. He got as good a send off as can be expected with the Pats first team lining the way into the church. He was a well respected member of the Pats community and will be sadly missed RIP.

..and his English compadres of the time (Bryan and Matthews) also died within the past few years. I remember them all well. RIP. The nemesis of Rovers except in the Cup.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Theo Dunne - UCD manager for 20 years, including our Cup win and the Everton games. Also the only Irish player to captain an LoI side in the Camp Nou - Shels in 63

Real gent; was still going to the Bowl 18 months ago when in the early stages of dementia. Had been in a care home the last year or so

Uncle of Richie Dunne, father of Tommy, grandfather of Evan Caffrey and Gavin Molloy (both at Shels now)

Didnt know that it was Theo that won the FAI Cup for them. The Dunnes are one of the great football families in this country. May he rest in peace.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Former St Pats player Gints Freimanis has died of cancer in Latvia at 38. He signed for us at one point but we couldn't register him as far as I can recall. I think it was because he wasn't a free agent at the end of the window or something. RIP it's such a young age to go.

Spent a season with Pats in 2009 but only played 2 games due to a couple of serious long term injuries. I had one or two interactions with him and he was a sound lad. 38 is no age to go, RIP

Yeah correct Longfordian think that was when Aaron Callaghan was in charge or it could have being the next manager after that!

Could have been indeed Marty. It was hard to keep track of all the comings and goings in those years at the time never mind now.
