Neil ORiordan has an excellent tribute to OH in irish sun today. OH was notorius for givin random names in friendlies lineouts so noone would beat him if he wanted to sign that player! Genius stuff!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Only Ollie could get Christy Moore and Leo Sayer on trial at Harps!

Such a massive shock and sense of sadness about Ollie Horgan. Damn... What a lovely gent. The humor, the talent in getting the best out of Harps for so many years, the quips - 'No point talking about Europe, we might get to Lourdes' lol. Kept working until he no longer could says everything about him.

Think that goes back to the pre-season friendlies either 2014 or 2015 season a few trialists were listed as impressing in a game and got snapped up by other clubs

Was listening to LOI late night on Newstalk this morn and Shane Keegan had great tribute on OH. When SK was Galway Utd mgr OH invited him to Claregalway Hotel for a meeting 4 1 hr to discuss players except that instead of tea in turned into pints and lasted for 5 hrs or more!

He was a real character, passionate about whatever team he was involved in. An absolute menace on the sidelines but a proper football man, RIP.
Went up to Saratoga, where my horse naturally won.

Watched the funeral online. A great turnout befitting the mans character. Fair play to Caulfield who delivered the eulogy.

Pats legend Dinny Lowry passed away. A very interesting piece on the club website about him, he was some servant to the club and to Irish football, rest in peace Dinny.

Fergus McNulty passed away on friday. Fergus was closely connected to Finn Harps having played with the club in its formative years including being a member of the 1968 FAI Junior cup winning team, he'd also been a member of the board on a few ocassions and was one of the Finn Park trustees. The excellent 'BackPass' UK retro football magazine latest edition (1/4'y publication) - Issue 95 - Christmas & NY 2025-26' has a lovely mention on Ollie Horgan in their regular Obituaries section.

They obviously didn't have to, but noticed they keep a close eye on LOI, really nice touch. They had a spread on the infamous Dundalk v Linfield EC game of 1979 earlier this year, and have featured other LOI clubs and the league in general at least once a year in small articles.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).
