Yeah only found out this morning from seeing diff papers. RIP Johnny. He had a brief spell with us in our first season in loi in 84-85 season. He has the most loi winners medals of all time with 7 along with a few others. He won them when he was with Waterford(6) and Limerick Utd. He also played with Cork City and Newcastlewest and quit playing at age 41. He was a ref till recently and also managed Waterford Utd to promotion in 89-90 season.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

He was a true legend. He is in top 10 of goalscorer in League of Ireland history. He was only joining Waterford for a 6 week loan spell from Coventry but never went home and was a main player in the glory days of 60s and 70s for Waterford before I was born.
He was a lively character who was often on local radio and reffed at Junior League games until recently.

RiP Mr McMahon. It is sad that this off season has seen this condolances thread as the busiest. Some great League of Ireland have been lost to us.

One of his magic moments, scoring against reigning European champs Man Utd at a jam packed Lansdowne rd in the 1st leg of the European cup 1st round.

Yeah nice tribute to him in the Sun today. He won the LOi and FAI Cup with Cork Hibs and the FAI Cup with Home Farm a few short years later.

One of those instantly recognisable characters. Never met him but knew him well to see at games in Tallaght and around town, we would have been working in the same area. RIP.

Yeah heard sad news yesterday about Big Dec. I knew him to see from the numerous visits to our ground and also from my trips to see us play Shamrock Rovers in the numerous grounds they played in. He stood out from the crowd easily. May he rest in peace Big Dec. I didnt know him personally.
