The legend that was Miah Dennehy has sadly passed away. Growing up watching Rovers in the early 80's there was a lot of older fans who spoke very glowingly of dennehys goal scoring abilities and particularly in games against Rovers.
I believe he had been ill for a long period of time but his passing will be mourned greatly on leeside.
Would there be mention of his passing at the cup final today?
Death announced of Fran Rooney, former FAI CEO,League of Ireland player with Shamrock Rovers, Home Farm and St Patrick's Athletic and Ireland woman’s team manager from 1986 to 1992 .

He was one of the better ones I think. Did an initiative to improve atmosphere at Ireland games by getting LOI fans into games together. He actually got fans which is not always the case. RIP Fran.

Had actually forgotten about this. Was at those Ireland games in Lansdowne Rd in LOI section!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Not sure if he posted on here but I’ve just heard the terrible news that The Clones Road Casual from Johnny Ward’s old messageboard, Joe Heron, passed away yesterday.
I think he was involved with Monaghan United’s matchday programme back in the day too.
May he rest in peace.
Tommie Gorman, ex RTE journalist, passed away aged 68. Tommie was a Sligo Rovers fanatic.
Very sad news.
RIP.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Yeah I heard of him too but didnt know him personally. JW did a great tribute to him on LOI Central and also referred to Ruairi Heustons piece on RTE site on the late great Tommy Gorman. May JH rest in peace.

Very sad news of the death of Wexford's former player, Joseph Barry Wallace, son of Mick, at the age of only thirty. Rest in peace, Joseph.
Marty, I would remember Joseph more as an underage footballer with Wexford rather than as a senior player - I wouldn't say he played many times for the senior team. A lively and very fit midfielder and would have featured at the beginning of the 2010s.
According to my records Joe Wallace did make a substitute appearance for the Wexford Youths first team aged 17 in a First Division 3-0 defeat against Shels at Tolka Park on 3rd September 2011
The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
