That question is part of your character. It's who you are. Enjoy watching your local LoI team in action and have a nice evening!

I'm looking forward to the Dundalk game next week. It should be a great occasion. It's great that a game of that level of competition is returning to these shores. Watching LoI teams in Europe is nearly as exciting as watching the Kerry League in action in the league cup!

Legia Warsaw got a win and a draw in the Europa League last year. Dundalk will be going well for a similar return or 3 draws.

After the result and performance last week, I'd be hopeful Dundalk can pick up at least 2 more draws. While difficult, the "home" games against Tel Aviv and AZ are the obvious standout fixtures to achieve more positive results.

Talking to a few lads we sit with in Oriel Park and we all agreed there is very little disadvantage playing the EL games in Tallaght. The pitch is perfect and its a straight forward enough run down, M1/M50, plus there are a lot of Dlk fans working in Dubs and others living there. The pitch in Oriel Park is just dreadful, definitely the worst its been (separate thread I know) but the word is, at long last this could be its final year, here's hoping.

For the euro campaign, I will still be delighted with 4 points, Dlk should be targeting a win next Thursday. The 20.05 KO time will certainly boost the attendance as 18.00 would have been a tough sell.

Love Football, Hate Apartheid: Protest at Dundalk FC vs Maccabi Tel Aviv

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign are planning a protest before the match involving Dundalk v Maccabi TA.

I personally will be supporting this but will not support any protest inside the ground that could result in a fine for the club.

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) will hold a peaceful protest at the Dundalk FC vs Maccabi Tel Aviv match in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday 29th September. The protest starts at 7pm and will take place outside the stadium, with the aim of highlighting the BDS call for the expulsion of the Israeli FA from FIFA and UEFA due to Israel’s ongoing human rights abuses against the Palestinian people, including Palestinian sportspeople.

It's ok on the continent where they are an hour ahead. When there wasn't any other team from the league playing at home in the competition on the same night, all Rovers games should have been at 8pm.

Yeah I remember that back in 2011, that was very tough on Rovers. Spurs game exempted, the other two were not going to get too many neutrals to leave work at 4pm etc, and make their way out to Tallaght.

As for the Israeli protest, very predictable to hear about this, but just a pure nuisance having the worry about it, and before anyone asks, I felt the exact same about those Dundalk 'fans' who cost the club 15-20k a few years back, bizarrely at the Hajduk match I think?

Hopefully the protesters will all stay outside the ground, and hopefully any Dundalk fan even thinking about doing anything inside the ground will think again.

Oriel looked really bad against Rovers. You can tell the players prefer to be on a proper playing surface and that is reflected on better away performances.

Tallaght over Landsdowne any day. I think they have a big chance next week. The late leveller in AZ has given them big confidence into the next few matches.

I think the protest is well-intentioned but inappropriate and liable to incite escalation. Maccabi Tel Aviv are a football team, not representatives of the Israeli state. Should we protest outside the hotel rooms of all Israeli tourists or while they queue for the Guinness Storehouse? Should we disrupt any Israeli businesspeople visiting Dublin for meetings? These things don't have a place in sport.

The protest is not against individual citizens of Israel but more against what the state of Israel represents.Which is the genocide of another countries citizens, annexation and an invasion of another peoples homes and land.
How are Israel in UEFA anyway?
Why are they considered European? Throw enough money at a corrupt organisation and you'll get anywhere these days.

Years ago we protested about the Brits and we still do to some some extent but we never held it personally against any citizen of the UK!

Give it a rest. This is a football forum. If you want to discuss politics, there are many other places to do so.

I understand and respect why the protest is taking place, but question if the organisers' are prepared to take responsibility for any of the consequences of it.
