Legia, with the first game at home. I'll take that.

Pat's were unlucky not to beat them a couple of years ago.

Flip side is Legia will probably be unlikely to take Dundalk too lightly as a result.

Would have liked to be away first but it's not the worst draw.

Legia Warsaw, that's a great draw for the club, fantastic chance of making it through! First leg at home as well.

I don't think you could say we were unlucky in the tie overall. Maybe unlucky not to hold on for a win out there, but we were well beaten at home. Mind you, there were mitigating factors there as we lost three quarters of our defence either before or during the game. As you say though, with our performance out there, and Dundalks result against Bate I don't think Legia will underestimate them. Difficult tie I think. I don't think playing in the Aviva is going to do Dundalk any favours.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

    Going by the coefficient, yes.

Pats got a 1-1 draw over there a couple of years ago, but lost 5-0 at home.
It's a tough draw, but sure ye never know.

So essentially what you're saying is, he was on fire, and their defence was terrified ?

Didn't they lost 5 - 0 in the return fixture? Its a 2 legged affair..

I'm delighted it's not Celtic tbh for the reasons above.

    Anyway, come on Dundalk.

Sorry, yes - meant to say unlucky not to beat them out there alright. Home leg was a hammering. And as you say, means Legia won't be going in entirely blind.

Talking to a few Polish co-workers and they can't wait to go to the Aviva, to cheer on Dundalk.

Poles don't support each other's clubs in Europe, you are either a Legia fan or you hate them.

Reckon it's probably the best draw Dundalk could of got, as someone said ealrier, Dundalk were never going to be favorites no matter who they got! but you've got to be happy with this!"

I think Warsaw, and the home game being first is a lot harder a draw than it could have been.

Good luck to Dundalk against Legia.
Not the worst draw to get.
I think Dundalk have a good chance.

Why is it so often said the last few days that no Irish club has got this far and then today ..

DID YOU KNOW? Dundalk are the first Irish side in play-offs, and the 35th nation to be represented. #UCL pic.twitter.com/SlwvStdPkP

What about Shelbourne in '04? Why was that not equivalent to this?!

The only reason I can see is because the competition was restructured since then, with there being 4 rounds now as opposed to 3. I'd still consider it the same achievement personally..

Chatting to my mate whose missus is Polish and a big football supporter. Not a chance will non Legia fans support them in Europe, probably the opposite. However, they do have a big support base here so would expect a big crowd from them.

On the tie itself. Lowest seed and did ok so far without setting the world on fire. They've a chance and a clean-sheet in the 1st leg will set them up nicely for going away, where the pressure switches to the home side not to concede an away goal.

I personally think they can do it and Dundalk will not fear Legia at all.

Yes, and the 1st of those 4 rounds only contains the 6 or 8 lowest ranked countries!
