    From the Evening Standard website,

Martin Jol believes there is a strong comparison between emerging forward Mark Yeates and former Tottenham hero Paul Gascoigne.

The 20-year-old made his first appearance at White Hart Lane as a second-half substitute in Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup win against Brighton and caught the eye with his mazy runs.

The Spurs head coach said: "I think he should have scored at least one goal. He has great feet.

"He's looking a bit like Paul Gascoigne with all the tricks he has on the ball.

"The only problem is that he is lightweight. We will put him in the gym once a week to get him a bit stronger but he is one of the most talented players we have."

Yeates, who has had loan spells with Brighton and Swindon, was "delighted" to be involved in his first senior start for Spurs this season but would have been less happy after playing in last night's reserve team match against Southampton.

It resulted in a 5-0 defeat for Spurs but new signings Emil Hallfredsson and David Limbersky both played for the full 90 minutes

Martin Jol said he was delighted to throw another youngster into the action after Mark Yeates made his home debut against Brighton.

The impish Irish forward certainly saw plenty of the ball in a 12-minute cameo in our 2-1 FA Cup victory.

It was the 20-year-old's first senior appearance since his full debut at Wolves on the last day of last season and followed Dean Marney's spectacular home debut against Everton on New Year's Day.

Dean, Mark and Phil Ifil have all tasted first team action this season.

"Yeatesy has great feet and could have scored four goals!" smiled Martin. "It was amazing.

"Every time he got the ball he went into their box but unfortunately didn't finish it off. He always looked to create something.

"I'm happy that the crowd know him now because we have some great youngsters and he is another.

"We have four or five good youngsters and another couple in the reserves that people don't know about yet."
He has fantastic ability but was apparantly very selfish on Saturday.
