https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
Unless the trend changes it seems that the league is going to have a fall in attendances this year.
Dundalk's crowds are well down on 2015, however the bigger attendance games of Rovers, Bohs and Pats all come in series 2.
Also, apart from the final game of 2014, matches v Cork have not been in the top 3 in terms of crowds. Last season didn't help as it was played in a downpour on a Sunday 3 days after playing BATE at home.

Sorry for going back to the 1980s again but Oriel's post got me thinking and I had a look online at Derry's reports the year they joined the league. Understandably Derry brought big crowds to all the First Division grounds they visited. Couldn't find the Monaghan game in Oriel but 6,000 attended when the two played in Brandywell. 7-8000 the normal for their home games and ... I think... 12,000 v Home Farm in the very first game is considered the record? May be wrong though.
FYI: Cup 1/4s that year: Rovers v Bohs at Dalymount had crowd of 5,000. Cork City v Derry at Flower Lodge had 10,000!

Two other big league crowds spring to mind, both RDS at the start when Rovers moved. Was it 24k v Pats and down to 11.5k v Derry two weeks later?
I think they settled in at around 3-4K after, but Rovers fans will know more, i think this was early 90's when they moved to RDS, they def won the league when playing there 93/94.

First game was October 1990 and they played there until the end of the 1995/96 season (so the guts of 6 seasons). Definitely weren't averaging near 3k at the end

The official figure given for Rovers for that first game was around 22,000. In his most recent book Robert Goggins said that the chairman ( Mr McNamara - can't remember his first name!) estimated this figure and the correct accurate figure isn't known. I have the Indo from the following morning and there are three different estimated figures given across their news/sport and feature articles on the game. 22,000 seems to be the accepted figure now.
I knew the attendance would be low tonight.. not this bad though. 15 minutes til kick off and barely 300 here
Waterford v Longford - 268

1250/1300 in Oriel tonight for v Shels i'd guess. Was seriously worried we'd dip under the or go close to the 1,000 mark tonight but actually turned oot that there was a decent crowd up and good atmosphere to.
Limerick v Bluebell 546
I expected in and around that communions all over the city today plus a 2pm kick off guys working etc
Bumper crowd in Richmond no more than 400-450.
Official attendance Athlone Town vs Letterkenny Rovers is 57. Protest outside gates by supporters looking for chairman and board to.step down. About 25 doing that and looks like some regulars that never miss games just didn't bother and protested by not turning up.
Will any of you make the replay.
Also aware of people that attend all he games refusing to pass protest and going home.
