Looks likely to be broken in the next two or three years, probably by Raul.
Shevchenko, Van Nistlerooy and Henry are also capable of reaching 66 goals.
Its hard to compare across generations as Rauls already probably played more European games than those above him because of the modern group stages.
Gerd Muller scored 66 goals in all knockout ties?
    Impressive.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Top scorer evern in World Cups too (14 goals - think Ronaldo's close to that though), and 68 goals in 62 internationals for Germany - unbelievable record! Scored against England too!

Thought Just Fontaine was the top scorer in World Cup Finals?

    Open to correction obviously...

Top scorer in a single final 13 in 1938 i think.
    That'll be tough to beat.

He holds the record for the most goals in one single World Cup, 12-13 I think, Muller has scored more over two World Cups

Larsson is the second highest scorer in Europe out of all the currently active players, not a lot of people knew that. Also, those 45 goals were all scored in just 70 something matches.

Didn't he do that in exactly 66 games too? Along with his record of more goals than games at international level, simply a goal scoring machine.

Yes, but it's still hard to compare as with the knock out you could get easy games right up to final (certainly if you look at some of the teams that got to European semi's and finals in the 80's they were hardly giants of world football).

Too hard to compare really, rather than number of games....
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

That's correct, yeah - Fontaine got 13 in '38, but Muller got ten in '70 and four in '74. Think Ronaldo got six in '98 and eight in '02 as well.

Don't know if I'd necessarily agree with that. Obviously if you got Newport County in the quarters, you were laughing, but teams across Europe were a lot more evenly-matched pre-Bosman.
