read some comments on bbc after bristols win over palace during the week saying that bristol will do well to hold onto him on current form.

I think we should give a bit of credit to MON for giving O'Dowda his chance against Belarus last year - his career seemed to have hit a bit of a plateau last season as he wasn't always a first-choice player for Bristol (although often coming off the bench). But his influence seems to be growing in recent weeks so it's good to know that he has a few caps under his belt already, as it gives us an already-tested option in midfield, should we need it against Denmark.

Seems to be coming into his own now, O'Dowda. And it's true, O'Neill does deserve credit for bringing him along. Now is he only had the courage of his convictions to give him a start in Copenhagen on Saturday week. We will need to defend in numbers, of that there can be little doubt, but McClean and O'Dowda on the wings will provide a nice escape valve for the defence and will threaten the Danes on the counterattack. Sean Maguire has also shown a real ability to run at opposition defences in some of the goals he's scored for Preston. Could be a job for him on the night.

That second assist was like a young Ryan Giggs.

Is there a danger O'Dowda will end up utilised as he's akin to Hoolahan in style?

Or is it just Hoolahan's stamina that keeps him out of the team?

He looks quite slight to me, mind you he is 75kg, mind you Shane long is 81 kg and about the same height.
Of of interest Damien Duff was only 59kg but he was about an inch shorter. Might as well throw in he is about
the same weight and height as Sean Maguire!! It is kind of funny how different player have different playing styles.

Models himself on James McClean: https://www.independent.ie/sport/cal...-35802206.html. Could also be described as a more upright Aiden McGeady with better crosses

Another assist tonight it seems. To me his composure on the ball and awareness of a pass makes him unusual for a winger cause he certainly has pace and crossing ability but not much tricks from what I've seen. Takes a good set piece which wes never seems to do. I'd love us to try to develop him in a midfield 3 rather than as a wide player To Help us develop as a side

Forget the developing. How about starting him in Copenhagen. Neither of Denmark's full backs are going to relish facing Callum. He's on fire at the moment. Admittedly he's taken his time to come through, but he's clearly a form player and he's exactly what we need on the night in Copenhagen. McClean on one wing, Callum on the other, with Shane Long in the middle. Play Wes behind that three and you have a strike force to keep Denmark busy for a while.

According to the piece linked above he hadn't any crossing ability, any end product a bit like mcgeady which they have specifically worked on with him. If he has it its only a recent thing.

Really playing himself further into contention for the Denmark games. Someone said it in this thread too but hats off to MON. He has seen enough to provide opportunities to O'Dowda and now he's looking like 17/18 is the season where he'll fulfill his potential after a stop/start season last year.
