Starts today with Dickie suspended after red card. Another chance for Conor to impress and to get a run of games.
Happy to report the good and the bad as always
Pretty clear Masterson missed out on a couple of vital development years hanging around a Liverpool side he had no chance of ever being a part of, just there to make up the numbers really. Not the end of the world if he gets a good loan, and the comments in the article posted above were more positive than i was anticipating.

Seems to have done well according to twitter reports, up until he conceded cheap penalty for handball late in game - peno was saved and qpr won 3-2. Dickie actually back next game, some fans calling for Barbet to be dropped, so will see what happens. Hopefully Conor will get a run of games
The penalty was technically saved I suppose but they scored straight from the rebound to make it 2-2. It looked like a ridiculous handball penalty to give away. I wouldn't be holding out too much hope of a run of games, will need injuries to get games I think.
Interestingly, the lad who was behind him at Liverpool (and a year older), Nat Phillips, is making his league debut for Liverpool now.
Spent last season playing first team football in Bundesliga 2 for Stuttgart. Doing pretty well. Weirdly had Masterson renewed his contract, gone on loan to Stuttgart for a season and was now making his league debut for Liverpool, we’d all be a lot more optimistic about his future...

QPR looking to sign a new central defender and send Masterson out on loan to further his development:

Played the full 90 tonight in a 3 2 win v Rotherham.
Yes, Dickie is still out. I would expect Dickie to replace Conor once he returns, judging by fans forum and twitter. Good to see Conor getting games though. He should certainly push for league one loan in January if he returns to bench
Gets his league one loan today, to Swindon. Probably a level he should have gone and played at two or three years ago but hopefully this move will finally allow him to get a good run of games and build up the physical side of his game. Turns 23 this year so needs this loan move to work out to allow him to kick on.
Yep. He has Mark Travers behind him there too who is ex-Lucan United and played with him on Irish teams too. As you say, he might have needed this a long time ago (see Dara O'Shea at Exeter) but better late than never. John Sheridan is manager there.
Eh he went to QPR a year and a half ago. Why would he go to a lower level? He was right to give it a go there and test himself at that level. He's made 20 appearances so got some experience. Probably got himself a decent contract at the time too so it hard to turn that down.
Edit quick google search . Where do they get this info?

The simple answer is they make it up (or educated guess, to be kinder).
Here's an interesting article on Transfermarkt (transfer values rather than wages, but same principle):

No, the point I was making was that he should have gone out on loan at League 1 or League 2 level while he was with Liverpool. I felt that just staying put and playing under 23s hindered his development compared to someone like Dara O'Shea who went to non league and Exeter and is now a Premier League regular. Mark McGuinness is doing something similar this season with Ipswich.
There was nothing necessarily wrong with the QPR switch, but some damage was probably done to his prospects earlier in his career.
Conor is out for the rest of the season, due to a bad hamstring injury (West London Sport, 15/02/21).
That's a disaster for him really. He was already behind in his development and needed the run of games at Swindon badly. Now he loses another four or five months at a minimum.
Masterson now going on loan for the rest of the season to Gillingham, currently 23rd in EFL 1. He made 15 starts and one sub appearance in EFL 1 for Cambridge Utd between 21 August and 27 November 2021, but hasn't been in the match-day squad for their last few games (BBC Football, Transfermarkt, 28 Jan).
Cambridge terminated the deal earlier this month, hence no appearances recently. Gillingham are poor this season, hopefully Conor can get 4 months of starts with them
https://www.the42.ie/what-happened-n...99910-Oct2022/ would love to see him play at a high level
