Great news, good luck to Limerick.
A few years frome now Athlone and Limerick will have 2 of the best stadiums around (hopefully), so I'd like to see them both get a crack at the Prem, I'd say a Limerick -V- Cork or Waterford game in the Prem and in a good stadium would be a good advertisement for the league as far as facilities and attendence goes.
So who will take Lims place at the bottom of Div 1 do ye reckon?

While it is an indisputable fact that Limerick is the third largest city in the 26 unocupied counties, to define it in such terms causes continuing offence to some of us who don't think in those minimalist, British imposed forms. Although there may be two states (two juristictions), the "country" (or the "nation", or Ireland) is the whole island.Originally Posted by LFC in Exile
Although all of you seem to want to state how important your cities are by exagurating it's ordinal size (i.e. Cork being second rather than third, Galway fourth rather than sixth), doing so is very offnsive. It's like you've all forgotton us.
Don't you know anything about football fans? They spend their entire lives trying to find some way they can claim something - no matter how insignificant - to better their rivals. I'm just surprised that we haven't got down to which is the largest city in Munster or whether Drogheda or Dundalk is the largest footballing centre in Louth. We can get into political discussion on partition etc but this is a football forum. Nobody is forgetting you - but don't read political motivation or indoctrination into a comment about a football team.Originally Posted by crc
The original point was the Limerick, as the third largest city in (the Republic of) Ireland, should have a top football team. The second part of that is what Limerick football fans as football fans care about - even if they also care about needingt to put qualifications on what Ireland is.
Actually, I've just seen you live in Cork. Maybe you mean 25 copunties and the Peoples Republic

Absolute genius, come live up here with us in Ulster... we miss you.
Btw Partition was a predominantly British construct, the Republic an Irish construct and the decision not to claim jurisdiction over the north anymore a very modern Irish construct... good Friday Agreement and all that.
On The far more important point, How deep are your mans pockets, a stadium by 2010.
