We had 8,000 crammed into Rathbane in February 89 (decent travelling support I'll accept) - temporary seats the works as had we beaten Derry we were joint top and could have won the elague. We lost and never saw close to that crowd again.

I was at that game, the last time really that Limerick scaled the heights. I remember temporary scaffolding was erected on the City side of the ground, mainly to accommodate TV cameras, but I think there were structures put up for fans as well. Don't recall seating but then again I can't remember properly as I was only 8 at the time! Used to go to Rathbane religiously back then, lets hope we can all start doing so again for a long time to come.

Actually on further thought you are probably right it was temporary standing area but was certainly crammed with fans. I wouldn't have gone up on it.

Rathbane was mobbed that day. The whole of Shannon town were in too supporting Derry.
