Its a bit strange (little worrying) but think the guy might be a bit paranoid.

Guy like that are part of the problem, they give the rest of us a bad name. The issue genuine privacy campaigners have is not what Google does with your private email now, but what Google could do with your private email in the future. Especially now that they're a public corporation.
I use it for spam trapping, but I wouldn't use it for personal email in a fit. I wouldn't use any "free" (as against ISP) webmail service for private email. If there's even one email in there that you consider personal, or risks embarassing you in the future, freemail is not the place to keep it. Using them for business is just plain idiotic.

It has'nt worked for me.Detown sent me an invite and I followed the link but when I've filled out all the information, it says I must accept the terms and conditions but it wont highlight the thing where I accept it so I can't register.Can someone help please????.

Browser you using?
Easiest way would be to get someone else to do it, but if that doesn't work for you it's quite possible Gmail won't either, since it relies very heavily on javascript.
