Result from today in Ferrycarrig: Hungary 0, Wales 0. Hungary win 4-2 on penalties. Fairly sterile match overall and you'd hope that the Irish U15s can show more of a creative spark than these two countries, even if a pre-Spring Ferrycarrig isn't the easiest pitch in the world at this time. Wales were the better of the two and had a number of chances, particularly towards the end of the game. Handy for Wales were Ashton Williams, Enzo Romano and Jacob Norris. Hungary's best player was probably their captain, Adam Ratkai.

2 of the keepers are from Southampton moloney has played forvus before but Brogan s first involvement I think. Both have been in England camps.
It took Ireland until the second half to transfer their dominance over Wales to the scoreboard, but once they did there was only going to be one winner. Ireland started with Moloney, Dunne, Dumigan, McGrath, Byrne, Ozhianvuna, Molloy, Spaight, Spelman, Sullivan and Manjor. Although Ireland were the better team from the start, it took them a long time to create any decent chances on what was a very greasy pitch and which got wetter with the rain during the match. Ireland had chances during the first half when David Dunne shot over the bar, TJ Molloy had a shot pushed around the Welsh post for a corner and Dunne had a good one-on-one chance against the Welsh keeper but couldn’t finish. In contrast, Wales only got into the Irish half with menace only once, when a cross was easily collected by Moloney in the Irish goal. Perhaps too many balls being hit long by the Irish team which the Irish attackers were never going to catch. 0-0 at halftime.
After an early Welsh shot was easily saved at the start of the second half by Moloney, it was TJ Molloy who put Ireland in front when a through ball was finished nicely past the Welsh keeper. Molloy then had two further chances when the Welsh keeper saved with his legs and the same keeper pulled off a good diving save. The Irish defence had the Welsh attack in their collective pockets at this stage and it was soon 2-0 to Ireland when Niall Sullivan finished well for the home side. After Ozhianvuna missed an easy chance for 3-0, Wales had their only decent effort of the game when their best player, Conaty, hit the outside of the Irish post from close in. Ireland brought on all their subs as the second half progressed – Brogan, Murphy, Gabbidon, Ikechukwu, Egan and Armstrong. Just before the final whistle, Ireland won a penalty when an Irish attacker was taken down in the Welsh penalty area, and Armstrong converted the resulting penalty calmly. Wales may not have put their best side out – perhaps waiting until Friday. Impressive for Ireland were David Dunne, Joe Byrne, Ikechimka Manjor and Victor Ozhianvuna.

Ireland U15s "B" v Wales planned for today in Ferrycarrig has been moved to Gorey Rangers ground. Unfortunately, two games on the ground last Wednesday destroyed the pitch which was in a very vulnerable state. (The second game was an Oscar Traynor match between the Wexford and Carlow Leagues for the Pat Whitty Trophy which Wexford won 3-1).
