That's rotten luck. You'd hope he can get back to playing at any level at this stage.

Feck, with Forest playing at the moment I was kind of hoping he might be back in the squad when I saw his thread bumped!

RTE in in-correct fact shocker. He started out with Lourdes, before being pursued by Cherry Orchard. Always a talent, always different from the rest coming through. Never fulfilled his potential.
That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age

I think having a Reid or Hoolahan in the team could have converted a few more draws into wins during the Trapattoni era.

He really was fantastic for Forest before he got injured. Not just his ball skills, but his leadership on the pitch too.

He was a bit of a dick to my brother in an airport one time. Although that might have been because my brother was wearing an Arsenal jersey. Mathieu Flamini was a gent. Had a lengthy conversation with my brother in a London park even though he was with his girlfriend/wife at the time. Couldn't have been nicer. Andre Santos was a gent too. Socialized with my brother.

I would talk about my own bad/good experiences with professional footballers but I would have to start a thread for that.

    Haha nicely played.

I don't know...it's like someone is considered a good or bad person based on how they interacted with your bro. Which is probably how I'd feel if Rocky Dennis was my bro.

I bet they met in Frankie & Benny's and he questioned Andy on whether pizza is really a good idea.

One of my all-time favourite Ireland players. His passing skill was unbelievable. Fair play to him and I hope he enjoys his retirement.

Sometimes when I saw him playing in the Championship he was messiesque (just made up that word) but didn't make it in the Premiership for reasons I haven't been able to fathom unless it had to do with fitness. Only 29 caps for us as well. Think he could have been one of the greats but it wasn't to be.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Andy Reid feels Giovanni Trapattoni could have handled his exclusion from the Ireland setup in an entirely different way.

The now retired midfielder was frozen out for five years from 2008 by the ex-Ireland manager despite many calls for the former Nottingham Forest and Tottenham player to be brought back into the fold in order to restore some guile and invention in the middle of the park.

"I knew I wasn't his type of player and I understood that," he told Off The Ball, before identifying what disappointed him about Trap's approach.

"For me, what a world class manager and what somebody would have done in that situation, would have been to come to me one-on-one and say 'listen, you're not the type of player for me, you're not going to fit into my way of playing, what way can we work this out?'

"And I understand that not all type of managers like all type of players. I totally understand that and I just thought a top, top class manager would have handled it a different way and would have been more of a man about it really than the way that he went about it."

On the guitar-playing sing-song episode that was said to have angered Trapattoni, Reid added: "I know what happened that night and I'm comfortable that I behaved myself in the right manner.
