Does anyone doubt Reid's ability now? If it wasn't for his quality performances in the last few games, Sunderland would be in the crapper. Now, it looks like they're safe.

The more I see it the more I think a Stephen Reid, Andy Reid, Stephen Ireland, 3 man midfield could work or just the former 2 against the weaker sides maybe with Doyle and Keane up front.

A right footed shot too from Reid. I remember watching Reid and Keane against France at LR. Keane was in his ear all day but it was done in a fashion of almost father and son or coach and player. He was not shouting at him but was talking him through the game.

well done Reidy - I knew you could do it in the PL. Sunderland are safe now so I imagine Roy Keane's job is safe.... Bolton on the other hand look doomed.

It was a subtle dig at all those anti Keane/Sunderland fans who declared him worst manager in the PL back in November/December

A Reid/Reid central pairing is a must if we are to have any chance of challenging Italy and Bulgaria.

Sensible of Reid not to do any back flips in his celebration.

He definitely looks overweight, I just wonder if he did lose a bit of weight would we see the same huge improvement when Dunne lost some weight? I personally think we have'ne seen the best of Andy Reid yet.

"Andy [Reid] just about made 95 minutes today - don't think he was flying at the end! Andy has worked extremely hard on his fitness. I don't think he was at his best today but he gives us something, that's why he is here"

People have an odd definition of "fat". Would his physique be really all that out of place during the 60s or 70s, heck even the 80s? Surely Reid shows that it's not all about performance diets and sports psychology; pure natural talent still counts for a lot. Fair play to him, I'm happy to see him lighting a fire under Sunderland's arse.

Good goal by Reid, if he hit it straight it was going in but he puts a nice bend on it to make it special.
I donīt think Andy could be heavier that he was when he lined out for Ireland v Czech, then his belly was like a tractor tyre hanging over his shorts.

I think his main aim was to hit the back of the net. I don't think he decided to put a bend on it to make it look special. Good goal though and delighted for him!

The bend comes with good technique. The idea is to keep it down the swerve is a by product of good technique.

Here's a pic of Reid from last October:
    http://www.goal.ie/fundraising/image...%20-%20use.JPG

It seems once he's injured he piles on the weight so it's important that he stays fit for our next campaign.

He was motm yet again on Saturday. That's 3 in a row! Beating off 63 other performances.

They're gushing about him in the Guardian, gave him man of the match:

    http://football.guardian.co.uk/Match...269457,00.html

Like his manager he can see the bigger picture and routinely spots openings before anyone else. Able to deliver laser- like long-range passes with minimal backlift, he compensates lack of pace by the sort of adhesive touch that enables him to control and release the ball more quickly than most team-mates
if he stays injury free next season I think we'll see him proving his doubters wrong...
