A few more games for Charlton and a premiership club would defo have taken him on. Unfortunate alright!!

Charlton will stay up. They're a better team than Sheffield Utd imo and have to play them at home. Win that and they've only 1 point to make up.
who knows maybe he'll be back in the premiership next season, with sunderland! seriously though, even if charlton go down the championship season starts before the premiership, giving him the chance of a few more games before our crucial september march on czechslovakia. there are always positives!
It’s a shame about Andy Reid's prolonged injury. I could safely say that he is the most intelligent and gifted player that Ireland have.I am always much more optimistic about Irelands chances when I see both him and Duffer on the field. I hope to God he is ready for September.

Reid is our most gifted player and this injury is another setback for him, and for the national team. IMO he would make a great partnership with Steven Reid for us.
just watched the highlights of the charlton scunthorpe game there, admittedly it was only highlights but reid looked very good, some lovely touches, looked fairly slim too, also appears to be charlton skipper, hopefully he can stay injury free
Very good player IMO, very underrated and arguably our most creative player, still has a lot to offer us. Just hope he stays injury free for a while!
definately our most creative player . i rate him highly
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!
ha ha ha, thats very funny and oh so original!![]()
It said in the Sun yesterday that he had a spell in a health farm during the summer, hopefully he does well this season.
Our best midfielder without doubt imo. Good to see him back in action.
Reid captained Charlton yesterday too.
He's not only the most technically gifted player we have but also the most intelligent imo. My current footballing idol, Nakamura, was interviewed on Setanta yesterday. He said football is played with the feet, legs, shoulders, etc. but the most important part of a footballer is from the neck up. Obviously he reckons the football brain is the most important part in a player. Naka is a genius in terms of intelligence and Reid is the only Irish player close to his wavelength imho.
He had a good pre-season. I posted this in the pre-season thread but he set up Charlton's first 4 goals in a 5-0 win against Gillingham.
I saw brief highlights on TV & he looked a cut above the rest. Didn't notice much of McCarthy but their central defence looked disorganised.
Jim Goodwin was quite prominent for Scnuthorpe in midfield & Joe Murphy made a couple of decent saves.
Must be in the Irish team in September to get the most from Keane and Doyle
He was injured at the start of last season, though it was thought he was available for selection in Germany. Staunton was widely derided at the time for not picking him.
I think Stephen Ireland has been our best payer in recent games and I think Andy Reid is a better player. Having a fit and on-form Reid will be a big boost to our chances.
Reid had a recurring hamstring problem. It was an issue befor the Germany game. He wasn't deemed fit probably by his club. Next game he played for Charlton he still wasn't fully fit and had to retire early due to hamstring problem. Then he was out for another month.
